that's my point. the group is growing, yeah there are plenty of cars pushing boost on stock engines but that's a dangerous game as some of us have learned. it's only a matter of time before we number in the dozens.

i appreciate the fact that "I" built my engine, installed my boost and to say the least I'm proud to do it all on the base model that most look down on.

So what wastegate spring should I get for 20 psi? should I get a big blue(1bar 14.5 psi) and use my boost controller to turn it up or should I get a big red and small red (1.2 bar 17.4psi) I think I read that when using the boost controller you don't want to double what the spring is meant for. And how hard are these to change?

what wastegate do you have? to be honest i'm confused, the tial mv-s doesn't have a red spring, let alone two red springs.

you get built after you break your engine.

wise man once said "it's not a matter of will the stock 2.2 break on boost but a matter of when."

do you have the MV-S or F38? they both use different springs. oh, where'd you get your turbo kit from anyway?

Wastegate Spring for Tial V38 (MVS) and NEW 44MM (MVR) wastegate : atpturbo.com
So which combo should I get if these are the correct ones? Should i just get the gray and gold and use my boost controller to turn it up? I don't think i'll be going over 20 psi without sleeves

you already have the grey spring in the wastegate. it boosts to 8psi right?

i recommend the maroon and brown springs, coupled with the grey that will give you 21.75psi. but you're gonna lose a little so you'll end up at 21psi give or take.
you will need all three springs to achieve that boost rate and a vice or set of strong clamps to hold the wg together so you can get the little screws back in.

maf doesn't give out til 24psi from what has been posted in the lnf forums. you'll be fine @ 20psi.

Reading all this makes me want to keep my 2.2 and ditch the s/c and build the engine and switch to turbo. I hate my automatic though.

I don't plan on drag racing though . Only track close to me is a 1/8 mile and I don't have much interested running there. Track prep isn't the greatest. I'm more of a street racing ricer lol.
