will they really just reflash it? i figured they wouldnt cuz i could just put shtty tires back on.... that was my first thought, but then again somone could take an SS and put shty tires on it rated at 105... in both cases idk y they would throw shty tires back on so maybe they will do it

Where did you hear this? There is no way GM would leave your vehicle without a limiter.
Also, they don't set your limiter just by your tire size but also by suspension.

Just get on the dyno, got WOT until the trans shifts from 3rd to 4th, then let off. It won't get all the way to 105 in 3rd, and you won't break anything.

I apologize for the mistake I made when I posted. I based it off what I had to do when I had a 2002 Z24 Automatic with the GM Supercharger. My old setup should be damn near close to what NJHK is running on his sunfire. Since it is not the same then, I will eat my statement and claim this is the first mistake in advice I have given on this site. My girlfriend had a 2003 cavalier with the 2.2 ecotec and the 1-2-3-D... shifter as well, and it shifted at 6500rpm everytime I got on it. When you rev in neutral it will not go up to the rev limiter like it does while at WOT during driving by the way. If you do not have a 1-2-3-D on your shifter that just plain sucks, and I believe until you can hold the gear with software like you stated you're screwed. Even with a shift on the dyno though, they should have been able to pull numbers across the board up to that shift point.

I apologize if I didn't read all the fine print before posting. This is a first, and will be the last time I post before having 110% of the facts. I believe I contribute more than an abundance of great information to this site, and I know there are plenty of people on here that will back me on that. I do however dislike the fact that the first time someone makes a mistake on here they get the harsh treatment right away.

Finally, good luck with your car and I hope that you can eventually find a way to dyno it properly.

they base it off the tires
if you have the 16" tires, im pretty sure you get the same limiter, but im sure it could vary case by case

when they reflash it, they put in the tire size and rating, i dont think anyone has posted about it, but i know for sure it would atleast fix the error of the speedo if you put new tires on there in different sizing

Given my experience dealing with GM dealerships and GM all together, I don't think so.

Ok in an AUTO Tranny when in 4th gear if you go WOT the AUTO Trans will downshift to the best gear for the speed you are traveling. So did they even go WOT????

This just doesn't make sense. Go to the dyno again demand it for free and put the car in 2 floor it and right before it hits the redline shift to D and floor it it should give you a 3rd gear pull.
