What could I expect?
Hi,
I've heard that the supercharger on the Cobalt SS is a direct bolt on to the base Cobalt and I've heard that it is a lot cheaper so I was thinking about doing that. Quick question, if I do pu the supercharger from the Cobalt SS onto the base Cobalt, what kind of times could I expect in the 1/4? I'd like to try to stick to the supercharger on the SS as I've heard that it gets some pretty decent gas mileage and this is going to be my daily driver...
Thanks!

for it to be a direct bolt on you need the water to air intercooler/intake piece as well alone with a different belt tensioner and a larger belt. Also need a intake and such.

1) the supercharger kit is around $4-5k, so it ain't cheap.
2) as FLCobalt said I don't think it's a direct fit, but it will work, I think you have to fab some of the parts to get them to work with the 2.2
3) you'd be about the same as the stock SS/SC as far as speed/power goes, maybe slightly more maybe slightly less. No one's really played around a whole lot with JUST the supercharger, as the build book does a lot of mods in conjunction with the supercharger.
4) the gas mileage isn't horrible but it isn't great either, in the SS/SC you're looking around 22-24 mpg city and 26-28 highway depending on your driving habits (I get around 25 city and 28-30 highway depending on traffic). If your car is an auto drop those down to 20-22 city and 24-26 highway

i think in the case of supercharging 2.2s , your just better off buying an SS, because you will get forged internals andstuff not to mention better suspension, body kit and rims.
I dont see it being practical to Sc a 2.2 when the factory provides a supercharged model.
Now if u really plan on putting tons of money in your car sure! Swap out the internals, buy a SC ,intercooler and everything and at the same boost as a stock SS you will be MUCH faster.
but of course that would probably be very expensive.
