What type of gas?

I now use 93 octane after using 89 since i got my car. My reasoning:
After installing my GMPP sport exhaust and straight cut tip i noticed a build up of a black substance which im assuming is carbon inside of the tip and after i would wipe it off it would build up again after about a week. After running 93 octane this is no longer a buildup of black substance. I'm assuming this is because the fuel is burning cleaner and more efficiently. This may mean nothing or there may be something wrong with my engine =P who knows! PLEASE correct me if i'm wrong.

but its ok. its a very common misconception
higher octane fuel doesnt burn cleaner or more efficiently.
its just harder to ignite thats all. which reduces knock, allowing more agressive tuning.
in a car tuned for 87 (like the 2.2) it will do sweet F.A

if the price isnt crazy high i tend to put in 89. car seems to run a little smoother and it seems like i notice a bit of more power (prolly jus in my head tho) lol

i put 91 octane in all the time, since my car says premium fuel reccomended, and i also work at a gas station. but i dont know, im a 2.4 not sure if thats different.

thats a myth.
Octane has nothing to do with burning cleaner, or combusting easier.
in fact, its harder to combust when the octane is higher

Think of it like this......"a homeless man approaches you and ask you to buy him a beer, you can: A) Buy him his usual PBR or B) You can buy him a Guiness. It does you and him absolutly no good to buy the guiness(93octane) when you know the PBR(87 octane) will do just fine" Sorry I tend to think of everything in terms of beer... but you get the idea
