hey phil, this thread was made for numbers about a future set up I had in mind. Nobody is trying to argue with you over the fact that V8's are better then 4 cylinders. It's all a matter of personal prefrence. Obviously this isn't the most suitable place to preach about small or big blocks and such. That would be more suited for a forum that discusses V8's. But to add on keep in mind you have all that power but how much weight are you lugging. I know my cobalt is i think 2800 lbs somewhere around and it has a little bit faster 1/4 mile then my 89 caprice. (yeah 305 isnt that big but still the cars weight was 3750 lbs lol)

^ what? are you 4real man, I dont know what to say anymore, you guys cant be 4real. who cares how much it weights or how much power it makes, theres not one cobalt on here that could come close. and its heavy as hell if you really need to know and the power well I gues you will just have to find that out the hard way. and to the 50 roll ummm dont think so guy this thing does not shift in to 2nd tell 50mph hahaha lol you guys kill me, OO yea and its got a catback too
but this is not what I got on here for so just leave it alone. The only point I was trying to get at here is that in my opinion I cant see why ppl put alot of money in to an everyday driver, thats all man so just chill out alil
and just for the record it pushed out 841hp (motor dyno) with no power adders, well other then the 112 octane. and weighted in a little over 3300 lbs
^ well if you want to know the numbers then there are many many threads out there that have asked the same thing so just do a little researching. and you should find your answer, and good luck with your build

i'm not sure why you had to bring the v8 argument in here anyway

Having a SS/TC would definitely be a great platform to work off of, but I for one have a lot of tickets and having insurance on one would be killer. Not to mention I would lose so much money on my trade it. It's much more sensible to just keep what I have and do what I can.
I mean, it's not a bad car really. Never once have I ever been embarassed to be in a balt.

No more stupid arguing guys. I'll just go ahead and end this discussion right here.
NA Stock V8 > NA Stock 4 banger.
FI 4 banger >= NA V8
FI V8 = ownage of pretty much everything.
Everyone happy?

in other words, it's completely pointless to put 93 in your stock 2.2, or even your bolted 2.2. only time to go up in octane is if you're getting knock, or are adding f/i or nitrous and upping the timing.

you will never get any performance gains simply from switching to a higher octane, unless you were running too low of an octane before. Octane is nothing more than a fuel's resistance to detonation. runnin 93 octane in a stock 2.2 cobalt will NOT improve the power. it will however lower your mpg's, and lighten your wallet.
