hey dont worry about it. it was your first time and like we stated 100 times in this thread... not all cars are created the same. they can roll off the same line on the same day and one for some reason has 5 or 10 extra hp and one has 5 less than it should... it just happens.
don't feel bad. and dont worry about the time you run, just try and improve your time... thats the real fun.

That info I got was from a forum such as this, obviously I was misinformed as usual.
The internet is a cesspool of bullcrap, I unfortunately pass info on from others thinking they were right.
So, instead of listening to that bs of 1 second off of a 2800 lb car is 30hp, I did the math for myself, and should have the first time as several people with these mods on a 2.2 have stated a 25 or more hp gain, and the torque gain is comparable. This would make the 2.2 about equal to the 2.4 SS, manual to manual/ auto to auto.
The SS 2.4 is 26hp more and is .5 seconds quicker.
Thus, a CAI and exhaust on a 2.2 should take about a half second off the 0-60.
Since the 2.2 sedan is .5 seconds slower than the 2.2 coupe, this will make the sedan 0-60 in 7.9 seconds or so, and the quarter will be the same at 16.14 seconds
Your sedan should be around 16.14 seconds on the 1/4 in other words.

Lame...
First off, you are wrong big time.
Why? Because you think I am comparing mod for mod and not modded vs stock on the SS 2.4 Cobalt. The sedan owner is trying to figure out why he is not getting a better than stock 1/4 with mods so, I figured out how much gains he should have based off posts of dynos with said mods and comparisons made to the SS to get a good idea of where he needs to be.
Then you say the 1/4 on the 2.4 SS is 15.2 WRONG.
Look at the link of 1/4 comparison of a coupe vs SS, it is 15.92 vs 16.18, that isn't a second. If you doubt that, then you contradict yourself, as the SS is only 26hp away, why the FU^% would the SS be 1 second faster in the 1/4 mile?
Thats 3 on you in my book so far...
Then you diss the reasoning before you read it thoroughly, you obviously skim read this.
Thats 4, haha lol and so on.
So put the mouse down and step away from the keyboard.
I clearly stated 0-60 is .5 seconds difference between the SS to coupe, coupe vs sedan, not in the 1/4 on this recent post. It is documented by a reputable company and not some snobby kid.
And who says I can't speak if I own a coupe?
It is so obvious that if the SS is .5 seconds faster 0-60 than the coupe, and is 26 hp more, then it stands to reason the 2.2 needs 26 more hp to match it. If the mods this kid used is supposed to be around 26hp, he should shave a half second off his 0-60 and the 1/4 mile by .25 seconds or so.
The 1/4 mile difference of the coupe vs SS, who cares, that is not pertinant.
I am using the SS as a basis to figure how much hp it takes to knock off a second, and it seems to be 26hp per .5 seconds which might or might not workThis is a better theory to figure where this guy should be than "sorry kid, your 2.2 is slower than normal". With help like that, ....
Using that equation of difference of the SS to coupe helped me plug in the numbers as the coupe is .5 seconds 0-60 slower to the SS and the sedan is .5 seconds 0-60 slower than the coupe.
For your info the 0-60 this is not a second quicker in the 1/4 nor did I ever say that.
The first post said 0-60 and it was based off a ricer who told me an obvious bs statement.

1. you have an automatic
2. a muffler wont help you any
3.you had 17's
4. you have an lt3 right? fully loaded? all those power windows/locks/sunroof **** add a lot of weight.
a lot of people think that the only difference between automatics and standards are that the computer controls shifts, and if you change that you are set, but everyone forgets that you get a whole lot more drivetrain loss with an automatic, so its not going to have as much HP as a standard..

I agree, a muffler alone does give almost no gains, maybe 1 hp.
The original post makes it sound like he has a Magnaflow exhaust with a gutted resonator, not just a muffler. Guess he worded it wrong even though he says it is not a catback, that could mean it is a complete exhaust. I don't want to read through this maze of posts on this thread to find out so I am bailing out.
Geronimo!!!

I love how you guys are trying to disect the problem when he said it in his first post
Did we all forget that not every car is the same even if it's the same car?
But whatever. I honestly don't care...just more humerous.

Splitting hairs = utterly pointless.
The secret:
To GO faster = Build it or buy it.
Get over the fact we all bought ecomomy cars. They are not built to the Nth degree like a supercar.
They're cheap and they break.
Im not knocking them, its a fact. Tis the reason I chose the cheapest one. To build as I see fit.
A cobalt is a cobalt is a cobalt. Doesnt matter what level of trim it is. Its still an economy car.
