i'm not.. you are.. bill from hptuners >>> you
not to mention of all years it would be stupid to support the 08's it's a different ecm then the 09s and the 05-07... the e16a they said they'll never crack the ONLY reason the 08s might get it is because other cars use the e37.. the 06-07 2.4's use the E67 ecm which is also used in a bunch of cars which is why that has support..

and maven i understand your concern.. it just means you have to plan.. you act like getting hptuner doesn't cost money each time..
not to mention once vince finishes the ecuflash program you'll have all the capabilities of vince for you to use at your own fingertips.. and "credits" will be cheaper then HPtuners he said ..

I am not bashing anything I dont want this to become a pissing match at all, just that like everything here, people like to E-hump, to the point of not looking at the alternatives at all. For 07-newer cars there are alternatives.
When Vince publishes an end user tuning software we can discuss again. I am sure if he can provide access to certain ECUs and and certain tables that HPT doesn he will have a big hit.

Getting HPTuners DOESNT cost money each time... It cost $499 once then its yours forever, and you can tune 4 ECOTECs with it....actaully you can tune everyengine from one model year and then another individual engine. And LS2Edit is $550 and then you can tune as often as you like on your car.

i see you're talking about doing it yourself i thought you meant having someone else tune your car lol thats all ..
so for hptuner pro it costs 650 thats still alot of tune updates from vince however if someone already had hptuners its not a big deal.. i was comparing apples to apples having someone else tune you (with trifecta) then having someone else tune you (with hptuners) will both cost money every time.. however if you do your own tuning yes it's a 1 time fee for the software (and money to unlock car, with hptuners the first 4 credits are included in the price) but that would be the same on both fronts
i see what you're saying though man and no i'm not trying to turn it into a pissing match lol the only alternative right now is ls2edit that i'm aware of outside of a piggyback or standalone.
the big issue here also that people don't want to necessarily tune themselves on a crazy project so they leave it up to other people that know how to tune.

wtf did i just read on the first page?
was somebody on the first page of this thread seriously able to get by saying the 07 uses the e16 ECM?
IDIOT..... the 07 uses the E37. The 07-08 is the E37. Then they switched the engine in 09 to the LAP. I'm unsure of what ECM 09's use, but I could find out in one phone call if you'd like.
So really HPT is giving ya'll crap advertising and technically incorrect information. If they cracked an 08, they can use that same tune on an 07.
05-09 folks can all go through Trifecta performance. Trifecta can do every Cobalt's tuning.

didn't read pg2 lol. i see people already showed you the light. now if only somebody would let HPtuners know of their mistake.
I've heard some rumor about a potential Trifecta end-user tuning suite, perhaps in a few months, if it becomes more than a rumor, I'll see about becoming a tester using the carpc solution I'm developing. And who knows, maybe it could become a extra purchase module for the CarPC's i'll be selling. lots of speculation and optimism here, but yea.

Here's the breakdown on the E37 application in the Cobalt:
07 2.2
08 2.2, 2.4
09 2.2
All years from what I've seen use a DIFFERENT service number so they are NOT interchangible - you can't use an 07 ECM with an 08 OS, etc.
08 2.2 and 2.4 use the same operating system so if one is supported so is the other
09 2.2 (LAP) uses an E37 also
07 2.2
08 2.2, 2.4
09 2.2

and i guess only time will tell bill at hpt says hes gonna get the "typo" fixed so if it disappears that the 08 2.2 is supported then it was indeed a typo but if not THANK GOD! lol
