i have an 07 so my exhaust manifold is the same as the ss, right? so by getting the ss dp would i see any gains? or would it be a waste? or should i just buy a header and dp combo? i also have the ark dts cat back

Unless it's the 2.0, then you don't have the same as the SS unless you mean the SS/NA in which case it's possible. And going by your username, I'm gonna say it's a G5? lol Is it the 2.4 or 2.2 G5?

looks like a G5... lol

and no, you would probably see very minimal gains if you are otherwise stock

well sometimes posts get dropped in the wrong section by accident lol

Anyway, if it's the 2.2l then no, you don't have the same anything as an SS. You could go with the header downpipe combo from an SS, but it'd be minimal gains at best as previously stated. But, it's ur car, you can do whatever you please to it

07 cobalts non SS model and G5's have the same manifolds. SS/NA has it's own as it's a 2.4 and the SS/SC also has it's own. Unless something changed I wasn't informed about.

Eh, it's been done before. If I'm not mistaken you can get a 2.0 exhaust mani and downpipe to fit ur car, but i'm not 100% on that. I think there might be some fab work needed or something like that. Really tho, the dp isn't going to do you a whole lot of good. It's just a small component in the whole exhaust and getting an upgraded size dp isn't really gonna net you any worthwhile gains. 2-5hp maybe

I'm fairly certain all the 07 manifolds are the LSJ manifold design...

Get an aftermarket header/dp combo, better place to spend the money and a real gain to show for it

correct, all 07 plus l61s have the same header as an lsj
and yes you would see small gains from this and it would fit with no modification
all cobalts can use the exact same headers, dp, and exhaust without any modification.
but as stated already, without the exhaust opened up your still restricted

I was also under the impression that L61, LE5 and LSJ shared manifold designs...

Good to know. I didn't know the differences of the years.

So 07+, all engines can swap?
05-06, just the L61 and LE5?

no, the way it comes from the factory, all years can swap any exhaust manifold to any other model, but in years 2005-2006 they come from the factory with a different exhaust manifold. in 2007+ all models cobalts come fromt he factory with the same exhaust manifold

For the record guys:

2.0L SC and 2.4L exhaust manifolds are exactly the same!

2.2Ls, even the 07+ DO NOT USE THE SAME exhaust manifold as the 2.0L/2.4L. They are different part numbers from the 2.0L/2.4L. It was redesigned in 07, this is true, physical size wise they are the same but it will not just bolt-in as the 07+ exhaust manifold does not have a bung for the 02 sensor.

Need to educate Cobalt owners one post at a time...

LSJ/LE5 manifold on right, 06 L61 manifold on left:

^^ This is correct. You can look at the 07 2.2 manifold in my pic gallery if you must.

my 08 2.2 DP has 2 o2 sensors while the SS has 1 in the exhaust mani and one in the DP, so if you're looking to upgrade you'll have to buy both.
