WTF!? Knocking noise help me out guys.

I was driving my car today and it is making a knocking noise when I brake. It didn't do it the day before so I am somewhat perplexed. It sounds like it is coming from the front. I did notice in the past a short knocking sound shortly after coming to a stop. I'm taking it to the dealership and my opinion of them is not very good so I'd like to hear ideas of what this could be before I go in. I take care of my car so driver abuse is not likely.

lugs should be tight I can check again. I had my front wheels off to paint the calipers, but I didn't get this noise till today. I hope the dealership will find out w/o f@#$'n other stuff up.

All it takes is one lug to get slightly loose and work it's way out. It can take days or weeks before you'll hear knocking, it depends but my biggest suggestion is to retighten every lug.

I took it to the dealership and they think it might be something with the braking system, hopefully they'll find out tomorrow.

a knockin noise..hmm i wonder if its the same thing i had.when i would break at times i would hear a noise like some1 was knockin on my car at the rear. i brought it to my local dealer and it was that my rotor i guess inside the drum break was warped..as they told me. it has not happened since.

Thats exactly what it sounds like, except I think it's coming from the front. I think the dealership is headed in that direction. Just pissed me off cus it started outta no where and I take care of my car. I'll post if they figure it out tomorrow that way others might identify it in the future.

lol sorry I forgot to post after they fixed the problem. It was the rotors, they were warped so they shaved them and the pads and the problem was solved. It's cool that it was a simple fix, but not cool that the rotors are probablly of low quality. Oh well

most likely your rotors but i would check your exhaust hangers before you take it in and get ripped off. When i put in my new Y pipe i had to remove my mid-pipe and such and i didnt tighten one of my hangers properly and it was making a knocking noise whenever i decelerated or accelerated hard. Just a good idea to check those things before the dealer says your engine has to go and they need 100 bazillion dollars.

He said it was his rotors but you must have missed it by accident. Post #17
