1) its about 2 grand to build up a 4t45e on our cars with an LSD, according to halfcent
heat treat the axels, blue clutch special clutch packs, tranny cooler, and LSD install...ask halfcent for his complete list, as his tranny is built for 400hp
2) if you DO sell...im S/Cing my 2.2 like you did (only im tuning), so save your parts, cause theres a few im missing, but ive got most of em

the transaxle are pretty stout. i dont want to sound like a dick, but just because youve dealt with manuals for a long time doesnt mean you know the best way to drive it. ive abused mine daily, and havent had an issue. and you can spin both wheels with an open diff, which i have done in the cobalt and my old saturn. theres more factors to it then just differential type.

but sorry to hear about trans. not sure how that happened other then clutch issue, imbalance, excessive crank movement, or initial load shock (say you rev up sitting still, dump clutch and it holds and trys to spin trans but trans stays locked because maybe tires were too sticky. or just some reason to not let the trans spin quick enought to match engine)

the cars running that night was hooking up real well. i cant wait to show pics of the trans yall will be like holy **** man. as far as knowing how to drive a manual. i have that down pat. i think the six puck clutch was to much for it becose it was fine till i put that in and the clutch engages so hard that there was no give in the clutch plus the track was sticky and i run 18s. i think it was a combination of things plus i launch at 2300 and being sc it all took a toll on the trans. but thats my opinion

i would believe it. ppl have already had issues with the 18's alone..now factor in, he's launching at 2300 and hes SC'd...after 20 years of driving manual, and being a mechanic...im sure he can drive w/o an issue..

yellow-i think you got snuffed by that guy with the 2.4. buy a real 2.0 trans w/ LSD and try once more. if you kill it again, then give up ;(
try 17's too, it should help

my base model 2.2 cobalt will lay patches 1-2 and they are both equal length and just as dark as one another... does that mean anything towards a lsd or is that just how they work?

ps... i dont know too much bout trannies, i just like to work inside and involving the engine/tuning

and ive already had my tranny replaced, i didnt grind gears but the tech said from me powershifting so much it caused something to break and that just lead to more breaking cuz i was driving around with only 4 gears and reverse for 2 days then 3 gears and reverse b4 they could take it in at the dealer. but its fixed now and runs strong

so im done its over for me im putting another trans in and i selling the car its going back to stock even the exhaust im all so selling every thing i have and the other cobalt the 2.2 lt is gone. im going to use something better to build and race. im going to a awd evo not sure witch one yet but thats what im doing. and i know yall are going to say it the way i shift and drive ive grown up on manuals and i know what to do and what not to do even the ford escort trans is stronger then ares is. im not even mad about it these cars are crap and there warenty is to the car is great to drive and run but there cheaply made. and i dont want a auto and have to have that build with way to much money and becomes unstreetable. so ill show pics as soon as i can on what the trans looks like but its not priety the input shaft is hangng out the bell housing and theres somthing coming out the flat plate on the drivers side.

is there a stronger transmission that i may have missed before i make this final it has to be a manual
I know you said you didnt want to go to an automatic, but....

There is a shop back in michigan where im from and all they do is build auto tranys for race apps. They take out all of the stock stuff and take measurements and then machine all new replacements our of titanium. They quoted me at 1800 to rebuild my trany. They did my brothers cavy for him 3 years ago.
