Yes, another "question about turbo" thread

I know the best way to turbo my car is to buy a kit from garret, but like most people on here, I don't wanna spend a ton of money to turbo my car. I know that Mitsubishi puts Garrett turbo's on all their cars so why couldn't I just piece together say ,an Eclipse or lancer setup on my car? Those things are everywhere and overall it would cut my cost in half. The most expensive parts would be the manifold and tuning. Any Ideas?
