CAI is a marketing gimmick.. I forget where it was posted since it was so long ago, but there was a negligable difference in intake temp from CAI to SAI.. we're talking percentages of a horsepower difference.
an intake is a tube with a filter on it... cold air, ram air, whatever.. all gimmicks unless there is a supercharger or a turbo compressing the air one vs. the other won't show much difference.
SAI is better than CAI imo.. simpler and cheaper for the same result

everybody basically...... basically agreed that the major difference is that the SRI is gonna give you more low end hp/tq an a CAI is gonna give more high end hp/tq...
basically

of course, this may only work to runner length/ volume after the throttle body and not really count for the intake... which I guess when you're WOT and at atmospheric pressure (read: 100kpa), just adds more 'plenum volume'...
I'm a bit rusty on my fluid dynamics.. haven't done much research on it lately.
I would also imagine that lengthening the intake would increase the time it takes for the air in the tube to drop to the same kpa as the intake manifold, but again.. i'm rusty..

independent testing is the only stuff that would hold any water... but one intake vs. another is splitting hairs... its going to be a 1 horsepower difference if that... and if you know anything, temperature change, atmospheric pressure, and a bunch of other factors can cause power to fluctuate from one moment to the next.
thats why dyno runs even in rapid succession have a percentage of difference from one run to the next with the same car... CAI vs SRI is going to fall within this range of difference, therefore making it useless to argue one way or the other.
if you like CAI, thats fine. if you like SRI, thats fine too... but again, arguing one vs. the other is splitting hairs.. its all personal preference.

sort of on topic, anyone have any experience with the LE5 intake manifold on an L61 attached to an auto?
I've heard it makes them slower and more sluggish, any truth to this?

OMG TEH IS DIRTYYY!?!?
we live in a temperate zone and have been getting smashed by snow.. cleaning the car to have it get covered in salt again a day later is pointless... it'll get cleaned when the snow lets up guys.. its her daily driver.

Look... when a company claims 15hp over its competitors, they arent referring to their intake making 15 PEAK hp. They are saying they made 15 hp more than their competitor somewhere in the power band, most likely the low end. At most they probably could say they make 1 to 2 hp over a competitor which is really minicule and could be testing variability.
The SRI gets cold air just as much as any intake. Your engine bay is Fukin open. Try this test just for ***** ang giggles. Open your windows and drive 55mph with this weather we are having... Tell me your **** aint freezing, and cold air is no where but only warm air is... Your engine bay is more open to the outside weather than opening all your windows... the air moves around in your engine bay the same as it does in your cabin..
