06 2.4 w/ 2.9 pulley?

ok so i have a 3.1 pulley right now but wanna put a 2.9 pulley on it. About how much psi would I be making with it on? I have a badmab header, zzp 3 inch to 2.5 inch catted dp, and gmpp exhaust. I dont wanna put it on if im going to be making too high of pressure because I dont know how much the car can handle. Someone had told me before to stay away from 15 psi so if anyone has info on the limits of these cars thatd be great

15 psi shouldn't be an issue on a 2.4. I make between 15-16 on a 2.8 and I'm a 2.2. I'd say 13-14 would probably be the range you would see with a 2.9

I see. I'm around that right now. like 11-12 then spikes to 15 like how i said in other thread lol thats why i was worried on what they can handle. I was told to switch the bottom block with one from a 07?

For every tenth of an inch you drop in pulley size, you add 1psi. So if you drop to a 2.9, you'll be adding 2psi to whatever you run right now.

the bottom end will be fine. the 06 block is the short block you want.
at 10-12 psi they say you start to float the valve springs, but I dont have any issues and I rap it out to 7000rpm daily.

Im at 14psi on a TVS with badmab shorty, zzp 3inch catted and 3inch catback, all cooling mods, and meth.

I would be more concerned with temperature after the blower when your at WOT.

In short, a 2.9 will be fine...

I only see about 13-14 lbs on my 2.2 with the 2.8 pulley. But i do have full exhaust with 1.75" primary header.

It is true on .1" = 1 psi.

vids of tvs plz(: lol

the part im "worried" about is having the gmpp catback. i hear it has some 2.25 piping. i gotta look for some stainless steel pipe so i have switch out the piping. you guys think thats possible? just having it cut off and welded in? so it can be 2.5

Not that important actually. You are fine with 2.25" as a catback. Header and downpipe are most important for 2.5"

I have a long tube header with 1.75 primaries, a 3 in. downpipe, and 2.25 in exhaust. Maybe you're at higher elevation?

And twooz the 2.25 inch is fine, from what I understand, that catback was designed for the LSJ anyway and many of them have used it to pretty high power levels

Lower elevation is better. The air is more dense the closer you are to sea level and denser air means you burn more fuel and have more power essentially.

How do you get a boost spike w/SC? Never seen anything like that on my setup. You sure your gauge and/or sensor aren't whack?

the video I linked is the one that I had put in the other thread. the other thread was about my car jerking from 1st gear but i found out it was just hitting the rev limiter. I'm not sure if it still happens. I would assume it does cuz I havent done anything to the car. I always forget to look at my boost gauge and afrs when I go wot haha ill check next time though

Doesn't really look all that abnormal to me. The sc doesn't make full boost down low, it gradually increases as the rpms go up so the fact that it climbs that little bit isn't an issue. All of a sudden having more boost than normal, however, is but I don't know what could cause it.

the reason i thought it was an issue was because my boost was at like 8-9 psi and then it started being at around 12 and would peak at 15

Yeah I agree that your sudden increase in boost is a cause for concern, just meant that when you're WOT having the boost creep up some isn't a problem
