1/4 times for 2.4 and ?'s

ok so i went to the GM Lonestar Bash this past weekend here in Sealy, TX and i ran horribly IMO. the first run all i did was spin halfway down the track.

after that i ran 4 more times and got 15.8 @86 MPH. exactly the same run 4 time sin a row.

then i parked my car and lifted the hood and let it cool down for a little bit. I came back and ran 3 more times. 1st one 15.8 again, 2nd one 15.6@ 88MPH, 3rd 15.5 @89.5 MPH.

everyone run i was spinning, i tried with TC on and off. i tried all 3 gears (i'm auto).

now this is my first time to ever run a 1/4 mile. the first time i took it to the track i ran it on a 1/8th mile. when i did the 1/8th mile all i had was my K&N intake and NO tune and ran a 10.1 and the 10.1 was my best 1/8 also here at the 1/4 track

MODS:
K&N typhoon intake
ZZP midlength 1.5" primaries w/ 2.5" catless downpipe
flowmaster 40 series
different resonator
trifecta tuned
sportlines

my question is, what am i doing wrong? i know my car as more then this. there's no way it's the same as it was last year, especially with the tune.

also how do yo autos launch? i tried every different way i could think of, easing into it, punching it from the line, half throttle at the line.

thanks for the vids Tom.

yes i did brake start every run.

that first video is not the actual first run that i was talking about when i spun the whole time. on the very first run i ran a 2.9 60' and finished 18.9@ 67mph lol. my car is so stupidly raspy i'm not surprised u can't hear the spinning lol. my 15.5 run was:

60'- 2.44
1/8- 10.12@ 72MPH
1/4- 15.58 @89 MPH

and i just remember that i totally forgot to lower my tire pressure. i was at like 35psi on my tires.

i was 15.2 with 3" exhaust and headers and 3" is suppose to really hurt you i was running like 16.4 bone stock

you're 60' is terrible.. thats why if you dropped that down you'd be in much better shape

tire pressure being at 35 is TERRIBLE for traction i usually put mine around 25-28

ya it totally slipped my mind and i even had a tire pressure gauge to check, yes i know i have the digital reading but i need to get them reset because they're not for the right tire.

and ya my 60' is bad i think i could hit low 15's fixing just that

your 60' is whats killing you as stated above....

bad 60'= slow trap speed, slow 1/8, 1/4 time....

try running your front tires at like 23-25 psi and the rear at like 30....and brake torque as mentioned, ive always found around 2300 is a GOOD launch rpm....minimal tire spin and its almost in the power band....

altitude also plays into factor's with everyones track time's....check out the 1/4 mile altitude estimator's....

you look gay doing burnouts at the track on street tires regardless of what you run.. it's a waste of tread

72 mph trap in the 1/8th is good, but your car is falling flat on the top end. Im trapping 71mph in the 1/8th but trap 91-92 mph in the 1/4 mile

are you an auto? I know my car feels like it falls on its face in 3rd gear. (im an auto)

To the op yeah get your 60s down and it should help.
I need to get to the track to see what I truly run. But right now im pulling on a buddies car that runs consistent 15.5s at the track.
But only a pass down the track will truly say what my car runs.

yes i was racing a manual cobalt ss 2.4 on all my runs and i beat him every time but right when i'd pass about the 1000' mark he'd VERY slowly start reeling me in. i know there's not much track left after that. in other words yes my top end is as bad as my 60' lol

ya i think thats another awesome thing about the auto, the top end lol.

on a side note i drove 81 miles to get home and managed 36 MPG on the highway as an auto, i think thats pretty good.

i have the same mods of you, and i have a tune from trifecta, a do 9.89 on the 1/8 mile and a 15.01 on the 1/4 mile at 95mph, and i can do better, so you can hit 15 low or 14 high

did you get anything specific in your tune, like did you ask for anything differently or did you just get a tune? and what PSI were your tires at when you ran?

and ya the way the thing pulls from like a 30 or 40 roll i would think it would be quite a bit faster then what it is. i just need to work on my launch. before this day at the track i've only been to the track one other time in my whole life to run a car. so i guess it wasn't too bad for my first time but we'll see after i work on it a little bit. i guess i'm missing two things, 1. driver mod. 2. tire pressure lol

for the tune a say to vince, get me the best tune you can for my car, so he work well. more torque, more quicker, RPM go to 7300, very happy with that, but i just have a CAI and a Cat-Back from GMPP ,i made the 15.01, my tire was at 34psi, before my tune my time was 15.6, 15.7 around

drop that air pressure and you can improve it a little....there's more to drag racing then just your r/t and your 1/4 time....

my fastest on my car is 15.8 is a manual with only sri K&N intake. my 60' is worst 2.5 lol
i gave it to a guy and drove my car, and he did 15.5.

another 2.4 same year but with full exhaust, lowered, injen intake, and tune, but automatic and he did low 15s
