15.5 with an auto.

My last attempt at the strip was 15.9 at 89 mph.
That was before the 2.4 intake and header and dp though.
I dunno where I'm at now but I will say that on a dry day if I leave it in first (auto) and stop on it when I'm around 4500rpm I am at the limit of traction for my tires, they will start to break loose.

sorry but you wouldn't take me at least but was the 2.4 you were racing an auto? then sure it would be a good race. or the guy can't really drive all that well, or you drive that well and can get every bit of speed out of it. but either way cobalts FTW and just for the record i am not call you BSer or what not.
It was a good race.
I bet I would be in mid 15 second range with my latest mods. With traction of course, because thats now becomming a concern with my crappy 205's

i always thought they were an okay tire. def better than most stock rubber on cars of the cobalts class.
that said, when mine wore out, i purchased Sumitomo HTR Z tires from tirerack. so far, for $55 a pop, they outgrip the stock pirellis by a wide margin and don't break loose nearly as easily.

Maybe not by todays standards and compared to the SS/SC but these 2.4s are pretty quick. In the mid to high 15s we are faster than my old 88 Monte Carlo SS with a 305, and that was considered somewhat quick at the time at 15.9 in the quarter, and faster than my 89 Z24 with a 2.8 V6 which i thought was fast as hell at the time compared to what else was on the road back then.
My feeling is, is it a hot rod like an SS/SC? no but the 2.4 is pretty neat in its own right, for what it is.

Yeah isn't that funny its amazing what they can do with a little four banger now. Could use a little more torque but with the gas going up im very happy with this car, its a pretty good compromise in every way. Its quick, handles great, good brakes, decent ride, good mpg, looks good, decent factory stereo, best car I've ever had at any price.
