2.4 aftermarket questions

hey i notice theres like a huge thread on the 2.2 aftermarket support for the internals like cams, 2. Ferrea Valve train parts. Download their catalog for Ecotec part numbers
3. Eagle Rotating assemblies (cranks and rods)
4. Wiseco Pistons
5. Patriot Heads Cylinder heads
6. Bates engineering. They make all kinds of Ecotec parts.
7. Diamond Racing. They make a unique pistons that keeps the 10:1 compression ratio but dishes the top for forced induction.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-2l-l61-performance-tech-45/aftermarket-l61-cobalt-parts-27680/

like all that stuff, new pistons and valve train, cranks and rods.

does the 2.4 have that kind of stuff? dont know if the 2.2 or 2.4 are compadible for internals

thanks for ur help guys

anyone know????

the 2.2 2.4 have identical block sizes externaly (which is why the intakes / headers / turbos work on the 2.4 as well as the 2.2).

I know that if any 2.4 owner wants to go turboed, it will handle about 400hp (just dont know for how long) with its factory came forged internals.

JBP offered cams for the 2.4, but i havnt heard anything on those in...months.

i know theres some internals you can do to the 2.4's, but no real aftermarket company is set on making a 300hp N/A 4cyl, which is why you will see alot of turbo specific parts (lower comp pistons, forged connecting rods, etc).

but as it seams to be with either the 2.2/2.4, the pistons seam to be the weak link, and I have been talkin with some companies who are makin pistons for the 2.4 (both higher & lower comp. pistons for the 2.4).

im just wondering if theres aftermarket support in makeing a fast N/A 2.4 cause id like to know. help me make a future decision to continue mods on my 2.2 or save them for a 2.4 maybe in the future for more power.

and ya the only "internals" ive heard of were the JBP cams for it. and i agree in saying i havent heard anything in MONTHS. last i heard there was problems with G5mikes car

so its like you get more power with 2.4 outa the box but 2.2 has more aftermarket to make a higher hp n/a car

do you have anything to support that? not that i'm going to be camming my car anytime soon but considering I'm not aware of another company that makes them it would be nice to have some proof to that statement

Mike's problems steamed from a friend installing them wrong and broke something because of bad timing.

Valvetrain stuff will all work between the 2.2/2.4/2.0 , weisco can custom make any piston you want just contact them, but they do have a set of 8.8:1 available that they've already developed. Eagle i believe also had rods you just gotta contact them. Cams, you can go JBP or always have a custom grind done.

Alot of those guys (which are 2.0 guys) are those who went with different springs. Last time i talked to mike he said the car felt great and its running great.

A set of cams will run you $400 + all the parts to do the work or the $ to pay someone else to do the work to yeild what maybe 10hp? Cams are SO not worth the money or trouble for our cars. If all you want is a little bt more them a header and full exhaust will be the way to go along with an intake.

I'd save the cams till your very serious about squeezing another tenth from your car.
