2.4 Exhaust

Looking for a muffler. Just a pipe-in and pipe-out muffler. Not a "fart can" as im looking to keep the stock exhaust look. I would get a gmpp ones but im not able to get them from any dealerships here in canada. Im looking for a low tone with no rasp so preferably not a glass pack because ive heard these will rasp eventually. Anyone have something like this on theirs/know where i can get one like this? links please if possible.

I went with the 2.5in MagnaFlow. It will be in sometime this week, so i'll let you know how it sounds. Autoanything had a good deal on it...around 520bucks or so with free shipping. You can also check out sound clips @ magnaflow.com

Well it looks like UPS is on it's game. It just got deliveried looks like i'll have some fun after work putting it on. Almost took the rest of the day off to go put it on

Looks like we have the same cars. 06 SS Victory Red. This will be my second mod for it. I went with the Injen CAI, but have it set up as a short-ram with the hydro-shield. I didn't feel like taking the bumper off or trying to squezze the tubing down into the fender. I had to get an exhaust since the intake overwelms the stock exhaust from GM. I can't even hear it at all.

You will really be happy with the Magnaflow. Youll still be able to hear your intake, but the exhaust is much more prominent. Get a header next, well well well worth it. I have the AEM intake, I wonder if you will get a different tone since you are SR and I am CA

Thats what i plan on next. Header and downpipe. Any suggestions? I have seen pacesetter around a few places but they look kind of cheap. Also did you do the install on the header yourself? I was taking a look at it and it seems like it may be a pain to get to. Im going to attempt the install of the exhaust in the driveway. Hopefully i can get the car up enough to get up to where the resonator piece bolts on. And then a rotozip with a cutoff wheel to get the exhaust cut into 2 sections. I wish they made the oem exhuast in pieces like my friends integra.

thanks guys...just three quick questions.

1. Is this a glasspack muffler used?
2. What model is the muffler if i was to just get it and not the whole catback system?
3. Does this maintain the stock looks or does it come with a different tip?

There is where you will find the info on it. Im not sure if you can get the muffler only. If you did you would have to weld the muffler on since the nearest bold on location is in front of the resonator. The oem exhast is all one piece up untill the resonator. With the cat-back all you have to do is cut the exhaust near the axle to be able to remove it. The Magnaflow comes in two pieces so it appears to be easy to install (I have yet to install mine) The tip looks the same as the one that comes on my 06 SS.

Yea, it looks basically stock just a bit larger tip. Dont get just the muffler, its not worth the money.

And Im not sure about the downpipe, I still have my stock one on. But definitely get the Cobalt Addiction header, it is the best IMO. I did help to install it, my friend is a mechanic. He let me use a socket wrench with like a 2 foot extension, it made it pretty easy to get to. A lift is extremely helpful too lol.

Well I finally got it on. Doesn't sound like a "ricer" at all. Nice deep low sound, and on the highway or on the street a wot its noticable but you can still maintain a conversation without yelling. Install was a bit tricky in the driveway. Had to jack up the axle in the back to get the muffler up over it. Other than that the saw-zaw took the old pipe in seconds. Looks like stock but with the "Magnaflow" on the tip. Love IT!

Yea, the Magnaflow sounds completely different on the 2.4. I heard it on a 2.0 and didnt believe that it was the same exhaust as mine.
