2.4 supercharger?

There is one on there for way too much.
Aslo, try searching. This has been discussed before, I'm sure.

i am not too sure, i am sure NJHK will chime in here and let you know, but a SC usually applies best to LOWER compression ratios, and considering we have high ratios for a NA car, the SC isnt "ideal" but its not "impossible"
best bet is to wait for a turbo kit (a F/I option that will apply better to our cars) because you'll find it easier to install and have better HP/TQ gains

ummm... is it just me, or does that supercharger really look like a turbo?

I have read the other thread and know all sides to the compression ratio debate. This is just a personal choice to go sc over turbo.
I would think it wouldnt be that much to take the kit from the 2.4 jbody and apply it to the 2.4 cobalt.

Unfortunatley, in my opinion:
Turbo > Supercharge

the original 2.4l is from teh 2.3 quad four, and from 96-02 it was called 2.4l Twin Cam. The new 2.4l vvt from the 2.2l ecotec motor is much different then the 2.4l I have. I'd say take a good look at the 2.0 s/c or the new 2.2l eco gm s/c kit and i'm sure youd see that it would almost be a direct bolt on. Even Airtronics (from jbo and posts on redline site) refitted teh 2.0 s/c to his 2.2l eco with only minor fabs, the main one being a fuel management (ie. piggy back).
hope that helps.

C24Na would the cobalt 2.4 guys need to lower their compression ratio? and what other things would they need to do,also could these Sc's still be bought new and how much? When I mean how much Im talking if you got it locally in our province

Well, i'm not sure what compression ur 2.4vvt motor is running, but since its gm, i'm going to guess its 9.5:1 or lower. Mine is 9:1, and the gm s/c kit for my car comes at 6psi (now 9spi) and as for as I know, the 2.2l ecotec GM s/c kit is the 6psi as well. Do a google search or look through www.j-body.org and you'll find links/part numbers.
The 2.0 cobalt/redline s/c runs higher boost but you could still easily mount that one like Airtronics did, and use HPTuners to control fuel and read the 2bar map sensor.
New, both the my s/c kit and the eco one are $. But find a kit on ebay or used and they're reasonalbe. I bought mine used for 1200 USD from a guy in toronto. Installed it, and had gm reflash it and i've been smiling since.

Again... the main problem with getting FI to work on our cars is engine management... none of the major aftermarket companies have been able to crack our ECU yet.
Give it time guys. Or make your own setup (like the one in the pic) and have westers or vector do a custom tune.
The one in the pic is a good setup. And with computer tuning it will work fine... but we're just gonna be boosting 5PSI or so. Otherwise you'll have to upgrade the internals (with parts that aren't out yet).
So.. just be patient...

guess again....10.4 to 1
Not a real surprise the--the Qaud 4 HO had 10:1 cr.
cr ratios have been going upward for years.

Even so at 10.4, thats better. less boost to make more ppower. The pcm cracking is the toughest thing, but HPT will mostly be the ones to do it if they haven't already.

nothing has been done to my knowledge to show that it has been modified to work on an 05-06 Ion/Cobalt 2.2 or 2.4 for that matter.
Also that centrifugal supercharger will make just a little bit more power than the roots style blower which is a good thing in our case.
And lastly, the compression ratios are as follows 9.5:1 for the LSJ, 10:1 for the L61, and 10.4:1 for the 2.4. Having that compression ratio for the 2.4 is not such a bad thing since it takes some N/A power to make gains with a supercharger. You wont be able to run 14psi like the LSJ but you won't need to.
