From the sticky on performance parts for the 2.4L in the 2.4L forum:

Exhaust: The less restrictive an exhaust setup is, the more power will free up from an engine. Our 2.4 stock exhaust system is decent (has 2.5" piping), but it is restricted by the header, cat (in the downpipe), and the exhaust section from rear wheel back (which becomes 2.25" piping and has a restrictive muffler)

Header (Exhaust manifold)
Long Tube
Weapon R Race Header (with downpipe, no cat) >>
JBP Vortex Header >>

Mid-length
ZZP Midlength Combo (with downpipe, optional cat) >>
SLP Combo (with downpipe, cat)
Vibrant Header Combo (with downpipe, cat)
OBX
Pacesetter Header

Shorty
CA Header V1 >>
CA Header V2 >>
DC Header
Hahn Racecraft
GM Performance Parts
Stock Extruded and Honed

Downpipe
XTC Downpipe (optional cat, 2.5" or 3")
ZZP Downpipe (optional cat, 2.5" or 3")

Catback
GM Performance Parts (Performance/Touring)
Corsa (Sport/Touring)
Magnaflow
Megan Racing
SLP Loudmouth II
JBP Vortex 3.0" >>
Pacesetter
Ark Racing DT-S/N2
Tusdo N1
Borla
Hahn Racecraft 3" >>
Custom piping >>

Which one is better? Thay all pretty much work -- no one has done a test to compare them against each other.

They all see pretty much the same gains. Just pick the one you think sounds the best.

An Injen or K&N intake is your best exhaust.

Go with Magnaflow if you want you remain a little bit more low profile. The exhaust sounds deep and doesnt look like a Folgers can welded as an exhaust tip

catback not really needed until you commit to intake, header/dp and a tune.
