4k rev limit parked

I'm guessing thats not normal? Air filter is new, changed oil yesterday, no codes being thrown...when I give it 100% throttle it farts then cuts out around 4000rpm. Noticed a few months back, want to know what is happening. Revs to redline while in motion. 91 octane in the tank. Automatic tranny.

I can post a vid tomorrow, if this isn't some ecm protection feature.

100% bone stock, ZZP Supercharger coming shortly

Pretty sure its because its an automatic. I had a Malibu rental and it wouldn't rev over 4grand while not in motion.

No purpose, was fiddling one day and floored it while parked after changing out a particularly clogged air filter and noticed it quit @4k.

Nanny feature, thanks all.

No, it's rev to 6k in park, slam into drive, then after you're burnout is over and you're getting traction and going 30-40mph then you slam it in reverse.

I'd say it's probably torque converter protection. Since you're not flowing any air over the radiator/trans cooler.

Maybe, but in reality, it's for dumb teenagers that think neutral dropping is the coolest thing to do and gets you a super sweet launch. So they put somewhat of a barrier to help protect the life on the engine and tranny.

but reverse comes before drive so first you'll get slammed into the steering wheel and then into the seat. It will only rev up to 4k in park (and neutral i think) on the auto trans.

The 4K RPM limit is there for the torque converter. They don't like being rev'd without load that high, so they put that 4K limiter on to protect it. Unlike a clutch, a torque converter is usually always slipping to some degree.

With the invent of Artificial Intelligence, Chevy has implemented the R(Race Mode) into all vehicles with the automatic transmission.

Although buggy (being a newer technology), it's main purpose is to "size up" the car you are attempting to race. If it thinks you'll win, it turns on by atomizing the crystals from the awesome Cobalt rocks located in your windshield wiper reservoir, which in turns nets you 100mpg, and 842% of your engines actual power. So, for the math illiterate people here, if you have 100hp, you'll have 842hp, with no parasitic loss from the transmission. it eliminates all moving parts transmission wise, which lets you rev from 800rpm(idleish...) to 11k RPM in .1sec. Yes ladies and gentlemen, the Race mode lets you rev to 11k RPM, with no fear of blowing your motor.

Now, for all you newcomers who are reading this, and wish to try this awesome mode, heres what you do.

1. Goto your closet, and wear your favorite Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, or Fast and the Furious 'Drift King' shirt.
2. Find a hot bitch that's down for road head. Convince(or pay) her to come with you.
3. Find the biggest V8 roaming the streets that's down to race.
4. Negotiate a money race, give him 10 car lengths (don't worry..you'll SMOKE HIM!)
5. Line up.
6. Get girl to give head.
7. at the guy not getting head, that's about to lose.
8. Put car in neutral.
9. Rev to the max RPM.
10. When it's time to go, shove car in R.

Now, if the AI Race mode is buggy, it'll put the car in backwards mode, since our cars do not have reverse. This means, the car sized up the competition, and realized you would lose. So, for comedic purposes, it made you go in backwards mode. If this happens, blame it on the hot bitch giving you head.

However, if it worked out right. You should be going 0-200 in about 5sec or so with virtually no gas loss. Go pick up your earnings, and buy that hot bitch some mouth wash with your earnings, before you kiss her again.

WIN
