gotta be stock, those numbers are rather low on a dynojet compared to the other guys that dynoed that at the wheels on a loaded mustang dyno

that dyno seems a little more realistic - i doubt the 2.4L is underrated like the 2.0L

Kinda low for DynoJet. Still pretty good regardless. Is that auto or 5spd?

Yea the car is bone stock. I wanted a baseline pull. The car is auto and we dynoed it in L. Im going to be getting an injen intake soon. Im also planning on getting a exhaust and header of sometype.

Not bad. Glad to see someone finally doing a bone stock pull to get a better measurement for gains.

I would be very interested to see the dynos on the same car and dyno machine with just the injen. If I compare my numbers to yours, taking into account mine is a 5spd, the injen gives roughly ~10hp.

Talking Finally Accurate Dyno Numbers

I have been visiting this site for a while, All the time laughing at the BS numbers Posted in the varioue ares. Finaly realistic numbers are Posted by Oaklandmr. A 171 Hp At the Crank will on a Dyno typically read 12-15 % lower for a RWD car and slightly higher for a FWD Car.(147 Hp are great numbers)
The BS spewing out of the Kiddies in the SS Section about 240 Hp is Hilarious, This would indicate the car ia at 270 Hp approximately.
While the SS maybe higher than the Factory 205 or whatever it's no 240 Dyno or 275 Crank. I don't want to start a war, but it seems everyone likes to inflate things.
This is as bad as adding up claimed HP numbers for accesories.( as you all Know )
When I read in some of the Post the claimed, BS I wonder if you can Possible add a filter to screen out the Domestic Ricers?
I have been through all the Dyno Crap over and over again, Plese don't be ricer's
I thing the Cobalt is a good small car But Please get rid of thr Ricer Spoiler.

14% driveline loss being an automatic would be reasonable so, those numbers seem pretty accurate.

Gotta love how flat the torque curve is!

Yea i know i love that. We figured it up at the dyno and yea it does come out to be about a 14% drivetrain loss. Compared to the prixs that were there...they see about 20% drivetrain loss. Im happy with my results...now time to mod.

I'm not going to waste my time arguing with a little immature, uneducated, noob. Laughing and calling bs on someone's numbers even when they posted proof is childish. I see you're in Ohio, all I ask is that you show up to IDDVII, and say the same BS that you just said to my face, that's it. Just like it's impossible that the fbody's dynoed at the wheels what they were rated for at the flywheel? Please, please, it can't be far to norwalk from where you're at, I want to talk to you in person.

TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER: Nice numbers, it's nice to see some bone stock 2.4 numbers, since all the ones I see are modded. You've got your baseline, if it were me, I'd get some baseline track numbers to go with it, and then start the mods. Take care.

Last I checked my car was made in america? My dyno did put a load, in fact there's several people that have dyno'd there and other places, and the numbers were all compatible. PM 03EBZ06, he's dynod several cars there, and found all of the numbers to be accurate. Why don't you quit being a troll, and prove you have a cobalt, or prove that you have a reason for being here besides start "stuff".

There's plenty of other guys that dyno'd my numbers are better, all across the country. Do they all need to go and get "real" numbers? lol What are you, 12?

good numbers have fun modding I know I am lol I wanna get a header also but just wating for pacesetter or some other company to produce one. Also I don't think SS/SC spoiler is ricey. Get this some guy in a Del Sol(bright orange w/ chameleon flames) said the stripes on my car make it look ricey then I thought to myself how in the world does my stripes look ricey if they are based on American Muscle Car stripes??? Anyways like I said good numbers and have fun modding.

Maybe because your car is NOT an American Muscle Car?

That is like someone putting a firebird on their cavalier. Kind of ricey. But what does it matter? You like the stripe(s) and they look good, what does it matter what anyone else says?

I seriously doubt a 2.4L engine needs headers (well, header, sorry used to V8s). A catback to free up the flow should be more than enough. You're not pushing enough horsepower to see any real gains in my opinion from an exhaust header. Maybe if you had a turbo but even then the stock manifold would probably flow enough. I saw a dyno once of a Civic Si that someone installed a CAI, header, and catback on and it netted them 1 hp and 2 lb ft for $1700 worth of ****.

Will never understand why people put a 3" exhaust on a 4 cylinder engine. Even a V8 doesn't necessarily gain much from the jump to a 3" single pipe from a 2.5" single pipe.
