I have the gmpp short ram and want to replace the orginal filter with a aem one. Anbody do this. Having a hard time finding one because the inlets offset alittle. Not sure if this has been already covered or not, i searched and couldn't find anything out. Thanks

Any time, its notably better than the foam sprayed cotton paper.

Yep GMPP filter is cotton paper with like foam spray on the outside. I think it flows about the same as the stock box filter. I honestly couldent tell a diff with gmpp v/s stock untill i replaced the stock GMPP filter with the AEM filter.

What do you mean the filter is not offset. Just got the GMPP intake and would like to get a AEM but does it fit well just the the OEM filter?

Thanks

Think its worth it just to get a reusable filter thats not oiled. Hence the aem, not really lokking for more flow, but that would be a nice added benefit.

I had the AEM dry flow on my Injen CAI and went through 2 MAF sensors in a week cause it's like a magnet to water. If you get one make sure you get the Injen HydroShield. And when it did get wet and barely even rained outside. And I've had the Injen filter on for about a year and drove in some pretty heavy rains and no problems.

A hydrosheild is not needed when using the gmpp short ram intake. The stock lower air box is still used with the gmpp one and the top of the air box gets sealed when the hood is closed. If water is getting into the air filter using the gmpp, there is a severe problem or your drinving the car in a river. I see you are using a injen cai, i know the filter is down low in the fender so you have a problem with water, but the GM one is gonna be fine.

I understand what you are saying, but I live in Florida and it could be real nice then shitty as hell, and when I got the AEM DryFlow it was cool for about a month until it started raining then it just seemed like a spunge, but I had my Injen filter on for almost a year and no problems. But as for short ram like you said no problems unless "your driving the car in a river."

Just wondering I got my filter today but the instructions say I needs a special cleaner mixed with water. Is there something else I can use to clean the filter or can I just use water?

I am washing my K&N filter today. Soaked it with the cleaner, Rinsed it out and watched the dirt pour off and the color of the filter change, The filter is drying now, then i have to oil it. I figure, if i spent the $50 for the filter, i might as well maintain it rather than replace it.

Edit:

Cleaning the K&N filter is a pain in the ass. takes way too long. At least 45+ minutes to get it right according to directions. But its all clean now and oiled up. Just not sure if I over oiled the thing. If i did, i hear that the MAF will go bad. Heard of remedy being that you just spray carb or throttle body cleaner on it to get the oil off.

Question though. What is the purpose of the oil?

thats an oil filter, we are talking about a dry filter

anyway sorry to bring up an old post, but no one has really stated if the AEM dry flow is that much better then the GMPP filter.

i can def feel the dif between stock and the gmpp intake, so i would assume the AEM would def help if you guys are saying u couldnt tell the dif between stock and gmpp

does it look dif then the stock GMPP like will the dealership know i changed filters?

can some post a picture of the filter in the box i would like to see the fitment

aem fits, but have to adjust a bit so it clears the hood. honestly didn't feel a great difference in throttle response after install.

side note: the gmpp filter says that's it's a synthetic filter right on the filter? so is it washable?
