well when u said "he mean" it confused me. either way laughing at someones car is pretty lame, considering u drive the same POS. dont forget what i said earlier that 1st of all it isnt brand new, second im not exactly at sea level, 3rd i wasnt on a perfectly flat drag strip (try a public road), 4th most times are from a coupe and i have a sedan (100 pounds is 100 pounds) and i wasnt alone in the car, 5th the front tires have about 10k on them. am i defending my POS? yeah i pay good money for it why shouldnt i?

Silversufer--I was not too clear--my fault. No offence intended to anyone

I was not laughing at you or even your post--just said funny.

It was chris88z24--who thought 9 sec seemed about "right--thats just so far off--even a Honda CRV can match that time.

Didn't seem to realize that our 2.4Ls--even in automatic trim are pretty decent and at the top of there class when it comes to NA 4cly automatic performance.

900 ft would barely effect your results---a little yes but not even 0.5 sec. Maybe half that.

I live at high alt--and it murders the 2.4L automatic

On a side note---we have something else in common--I used to have a Monte SS as well--1987.

And I raced it--I would have to get out my timeslips for both and altitude correct--but it ran a 16.7-- (UNCORRECTED--5000DA it typical here) damn near the same as my 4rd automatic 2.4L

the road was as flat as i could find that was safe enough to stop in the middle of. and mags like car and driver use high tech timing devices that ADJUST for altitude and temp and all that. i was using a stop watch from a cell phone.... and idc what people say, if you cant read that it wasnt a "proffesional thing" and call the time "****" then o well. just remember i drive the same car as you guys and im sure because of many factors plenty of you would get times all over the board.

take a look at edmunds times for a 2.2 and its competition

it may be competitive among N/A 4 cylinders but 9 sec is still slow. When I bought my Cobalt I didnt buy it thinking "im gonna race it."

i wish gm would do the same thing with the cobalt that chrysler did with the caliber srt-4, it has it's own 0-60 and 1/4 timer from what i've heard so you can practice better times.

I'm sure it would have only been avaliable on the SS/SC SS/TC. Hmm, isn't that a feature on the RPD?

I bought my Eibach's from Turbo Tech Racing. $245 shipped if you ever want to get rid of your stock fender gaps that's the way to do it FTW! you get a 5% discount from them if you put their banner in ur sig cause theyre one our our supporting vendors I'll let them know you noticed their banner.

G-Tech Pro SS and Pro RR versions can calculate the 0-60 and quarter mile times for you. You have to run your rear defroster and a few other accessorys inorder to get it to calibrate correctally on our cars though. I hear the dashhawk is much easier to calibrate on newer engines though.

if i had extra money i guess i wouldnt mind a banner either

hey avro define "real times". just to settle this for myself i made a better run, once again taped and i timed it from there and get anywhere from 8.3-8.5 depending on my reaction on pressing the button

real times---by that I mean best possible times. Of course times can be worse for many reasons but everyone built can do this under perfect conditons.

7.5 seconds is what Car and Driver got--everyones car is capable of that.
(our 4drs are tad heaver-maybe 7.6?)
