Benefits Of Light-Mod 2.4 With Tune
Hey guys,
So, I'm considering finally getting my tune. A local-ish guy does HPTuners around me. I'm just gonna have him do it. My performance mods are intake (Injen CAI with AEM Dryflow) and exhaust (GMPP tubing, Dynomax muffler) right now. I might re-add another header/dp later. I can always re-tune. I'm an auto. I know the auto's really benefit from the tune. What will I gain from the tune? I'm assuming throttle response, overall feel, maybe slight MPG, slight power increase, smoothed out, etc. What do most guys get when they get an HPTuners tune?
Thanks!

with my tune full bolt ons (intake, header, cat-less down pipe, exhaust etc) i gained about 30whp 32 ish wtq better fuel economy and the engine ran with less knock and much safer. also huge improvement with throttle response. stupid drive by wire.
im standard though.

That's pretty badass. I know the auto's are VERY bogged down with the stock tune.. Reserved shift points, skip shifts, sloppy response, etc.. It'll clean it all up.. I also want to lower my aux fan kick on temp..
What'd you pay to get yours tuned?
I may get another header/dp at some point.. Depends.. How's yours sound?

Im in the same situation... 2.4 auto with intake and cat-back but im waiting for full exhaust to get a tune. Im located in northern VA tho and I dont think theres any tuners around me, what do you think I should do?

my hpt ran me 250 bucks with like eleventy million re-tunes, each yielding more power lol
my exhaust sounds ricey but that's the vagnaflow muffler doing that, with the cut out open it sounds so bad ass.

Ugh you make me so tempted to tune... but I just don't wanna end up with no warranty in the end.

Yeah my warranty just expired on my car, I also drive a 2.4L Auto, trifecta tunes are avaliable in Austin TX, I also have the same set up, K&N Typhoon, Ark DT-S Exhaust and just lowered it with SS/TC Springs. I wanna get my tuned as well

i have a 2.4 auto and i just have an intake and exhaust and i got it trifecta tuned. there it a noticeable difference in power and response i also got firmer shifts for the tranny. its not a huge difference but a bit noticeable when you first get it but you get used to it real fast and of course want more lol.

i have a 2.4 auto and everything that you asked about if it made a difference, i'd say night and day. and with the transmission tune you get firmer shifts and i can actually sctratch from 1st to second and i have torque steer when shifting it's fun lol. sometimes when i'm doing roll races i will drop from D to I at about 35-40mph and i will have tire spin bad. (didn't have any of this before). i think i gained more torque then anything else. the hp is ok but then again i got a trifecta tune and it was just one tune and that was it. i haven't fine tuned it any so i think HPT could possibly be better just because you have the tuner right there. but Vince does know his **** very well and i'm very happy with my trifecta tune.
mods: zzp midlength combo 1.5" primaries and 2.5" catless DP, K&N typhoon intake, flowmaster 40 series and custom 2.5" catback with a 12"resonator. (my **** is loud and extremely rice. lol selling the header/dp combo to a buddy and chopping the flowmaster afterwards.)

Excellent! I hope I can still do this today..
And Drew, honestly, I'd just look into an intake for now. That made a good difference. I've had several exhausts on my car, and they're all quite loud. Especially droney with the auto. If you're trying to stay kinda quiet, I'd just keep your stock 2.4 exhaust..

My tune feels aggressive which I like. Mods in signature. Car pulls strong above 4k. MPG was slightly increased and shift points were increased. Redline set to 7k. Since my car use to have all of these mods listed below without a tune it ran and felt like ****. Once tuned it runs smoothly and unleashes like a bat out of hell.
