Boosted 2.4 which clutch should i get?
#28
I would suggest the SPEC 3+. I drive my car every day to work and back and once a month when I go to school I spend about an hour in traffic on the interstate doing between 0-15mph.
The pedal is in the stock location( for me anyways) and it holds; I dont dump the clutch or anything but I am pretty rough on it a couple times a week. I have had it for prolly around 10-15K miles and it should hold the TVS just fine when it gets installed in March
Just remembered...This is a blurry-ass picture, but it is the best I have. sorry
This is the only reason that I get some chatter if I dont hit it perfectly. I was running out of time and my boss needed my bay and I didnt have the time to take the flywheel to a machine shop. I went ahead and chucked it onto our brake lathe and used a die grinder with 23 grit and just let her eat.

exedy stg 2 cost me 340 shipped from a vendor off of here. zzp = 600+...........
the exedy is also good to around 350 whp. they advertise less but when you speak to them they tell you theres like a 30% buffer i think it was.. that it would cover higher than the advertised amount.

I agree with everyone about the Exedy stage 2. It has great holding power and is reasonably priced. The adj clutch rod would be nice though with the Exedy clutch. If you are considering a flywheel as well though I would look into the ZZP kit too, otherwise Exedy is the way to go.
Last year I ordered a Exedy flywheel and clutch and Exedy screwed up manufacturing by labeling the flywheels wrong. They accidentally produced a batch of flywheels and labeled them GF501, but they were actually for a Honda iirc. Then I tried to order a GF501 and they didn't have any, they had a bunch of Honda flywheels though . So the lead time was about 3 weeks to get one out, but I could not wait that long since my car was already apart so I just had the stocker machined and reinstalled it. Since I am dropping my sub frame again I decided to get a light flywheel and a clutch that will hopefully be closer to stock pedal pressure.
I also agree with getting the adj clutch rod. My exedy was on the floor before I got it.

The ZZP kit comes with a flywheel though. If you got the Exedy clutch/flywheel you'd be looking at least $650 which is on par with ZZP stage 1... and they probably have around the same capacity. The ZZP kit is competitively priced.

Mine disengages really low too, but works ok with the stock rod.

You should get your flywheel resurfaced. Flywheel bolts are tty. Bolts are around $35 bucks for a set...if you get ARP bolts they are a little less.
Also check your throw out bearing. If it is not buttery smooth then replace it. There is a boot on it as well check it for cracking or tears...somehow mine has a hole in it. I just picked one up through the local GM dealer for about $115.

Includes:
Fidanza lightweight flywheel
Larger 9.5" disc
Increased clamp load pressure plate
Stage 2 comes with a full face Kevlar disc.
Whats the rating for stage 2? Did you get stage 2

I just installed the ZZP stage 2 kit in my 2.4 (not boosted yet) and I love it. Only a day driving on it and it feels way better than stock. No slippage at all and it has very little pedal resistance which was important to me as I DD my car. No pics unfortunately though.

My guess is anyone doing SC builds the Stage 2 is fine.
They don't have ratings for the 2.4l kits, but if you look at the design is sounds like the F35 (9.5") surface. They do have ratings for their SS clutches and the SS Stage 2 1200# plate with kevlar is good to 300ftlbs. The stage 2 2.4l kevlar has a 1500# plate...so I would guess it'd be good for much more than 300ftlbs...though it'd be nice if ZZP listed the ratings.

I asked about the rating and told ZZP what my plans were for my build and Tim said hes sure the stage 2 will be fine. I ordered one and they come into stock today actually so it should be here soon.

I think im gonna go with zzp since we get a complete kit with it and its reliable too.

Just picked up a throw out bearing at GM for $115 and got some ARP flywheel bolts from ZZP for $26.
