bought downpipe need tune.
hey, so i recently bought the zzp downpipe with highflow cat, and were i live you have to pass emissions but they wont even test you if you have your check engine light on (even if your car will pass, its stupid) and i was wondering if there is a cheaper route to go then buying a trifecta tune or dyno tune. And i dont want to buy something thats going to end up hurting my car, just like a stock type tune that will work with my mods to get rid of my check engine light. I have ran the codes and its deff the o2 sensor. thanks in advance.

Defouler is just like a 90* elbow that takes your o2 sensor out of the stream of the exhaust to trick the sensor into not knowing the cat is different. Tune is the best method to fix the problem and unfortunately the only options are trifecta or hpt.

The defouler is not a half ass way at all. The secondary o2 sensors only job is to measure cat efficiceny. With the code turned off in a tune, you can still clog a cat and not know, but with a defouler the extra spacing of the sensor from the mainstream exhaust gases would not be enough to keep the CEL off. Therefore you would still have the protection of knowing what the secondary o2 is seeing without having a CEL on all the time.
OP I have the vibrant 90 degree one from modern performance, it does the job nicely and is a quality piece I recommend.

No it DOES get rid of the CEL from a high-flow cat in place of the stock cat. However, it would still trip a CEL if a highflow cat got clogged or went bad. Sorry if that post was too confusing.
