Broken Dreams - A Cobalt in Despair
So I've realized after 2 years of owning my cobalt and with car payments and insurance the way they are I will never be able to SC or TC my Sport 2.4 LE5 lol. At any rate I've got a budget of $100 every two weeks I can dedicate to my car so I was thinking instead of just throwing performance medications at it which cost an arm and a leg ($500+) make it a shower car of some sort that I am proud to drive as my daily driver.
So I'm thinking things such as:
- Tint
- Interior
- Lights (Not Underglows)
- Bodykit
- Wheels
..etc..
Breaks my heart that I can't do what I want to do, but I will at least feel some kind of morality since I'm running stock lol. What I'd like from you guys is other idea's of modifications for 'Trick my Balt'. Also any performance modifications you can think of that would run into the budget would be awesome but I doubt it,

drop that money in a savings account and in a few months you got a turbo build.
I've been doing mine that way, and so far I got DP, Header, CAI, wheels, and coil overs. It takes a bit of time but if you are patient you can do what you want.

Nothing happens over night man, if you piece together a m62 kit you can easily spend around 1k
In this forum, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the to whoop some asss

Save your money and drop the body kit idea, IMO. The Cobalt, specially the ones with the SS body, look great as they are. And, aftermarket body kits usually just end up making a car look worst, they never flow with the car.
While your still making payments, I'd get the windows tinted, maybe find a used intake, and paint the interior. Maybe even look into some lowering coils, or a used catback and down pipe.
Then like Mr.Tozzi said start saving, and collecting some affordable parts here and there. Or if your car loan is an open loan, start throwing the extra money on it, so you can pay it off quicker. That way you can get to the point where you have no payment and can save quicker for a turbo or supercharger.

Well that and I'm mechanically declined when it comes to TC or SC. So you say I can build a m62 (have seen it) turbo build at 1k I wouldn't know what parts I'm actually looking for lol. As far as thoughts of myself, was thinking of just doing a small build and throwing bigger fuel injectors (no idea where to get them or $) and doing 'something' with the header, and then throwing a bolt on SC. Lol.

Reading posts on here and I believe it. People don't save money for a good down payment. People stretch out loans way too long to get a lower monthly payment. People trade cars that they still owe on for a new car.

$6,136 to go and paid $3,000 + 2,500 for trade in, and 1750 for the car.
$13,386 is what my 08 Chevorlet Cobalt Sport with 52,000 miles cost me by the time I finish paying it off.

Save the money. Maybe down the road once your car is paid off, you can decide whether to turbocharge it or trade it in for something new with some cash on hand.
It does pay off to hunt around for parts on Craigslist, ebay and the Parts for sale section here. I've been going on Craigslist lately and I found a set of almost new SSC springs for $50 and a used GMPP intake for $100 within a 50 mile radius.
My situation was about similar to Slay's. It was my first actual car purchase but I got jacked up on the interest rate (9.875%) and the car I traded in was crap: a 2001 base Neon with 171,000 miles. I now have about 23 months of car payments left and I bought it used. I'm going to keep this one longer, I miss not having car payments.
