CAI Vs. SRI

the urge to mod my car is getting unbarable, so which is better, cold air intake or short ram intake, I had a sri on my cobalt and loved it lol (I did a little searching but not alot)

what do you think about this one? http://www.turbotechracing.com/produ...idproduct=1269

Cold-air will yield a little bit better from what I understand as it will pull in cold air. Short-Rams or more suseptable to heat soak.

I have the Injen and love it. Really makes the car sound like it has *****

I only use the CAI feature, dont really see a point in SRI

I have a modded GMPP intake. And I'm using a filter from pep boys so I could color match. From what I've observed, the car seems to run smoother, and gets slightly better top end power in CAI form. But I also observed the engine run a tad bit lean. The intake is also very quiet. In SRI mode the car runs a little less lean, is a lot louder, low end power, and the car runs a little sluggish due to the fact it sucks in warmer air. Very heat soak prone. I had CAI but I went back to SRI because the rain was making me paranoid, and I didn't like how it was making me run a little lean. (15's and 16's AFR)

I have an Injen on my 2.4, and I've ran it both ways. I've ran stock Injen filter, K&N filter, and now AEM Dryflow fliter. I'd say you're good either way, but run the Dryflow. Way better than anything else. 99% filtration vs 93% of anything else close. Power is a tad higher on the CAI vs the SRI, but it's not like it's a turbo.. lol

get one end of thread lol.

with these cars so sensitive to air flow any increase or change in the way it was from oem throws every thing out of whack. any mod to airflow, (intake header exhaust, etc etc) should be tuned for.

you've seen this first hand with your AFR.

blk06cbltss

is that what your tuned for at wot? cause that's rich.., lol

Agreed. I notice a big difference in not just power, but everything when I change any piece of my intake.

I never noticed much difference when I modded my intake from GMPP.

after you do it a few times you get really good at it and fast. its just the right side always seems to be the hardest headlight to get out on all cobalts
