Can A 2.4 Handle A Turbo?

I know this question has been asked millions of times but i don't really wanna look for it sorry for any inconvenience.

Im looking forward to boosting my 2.4 and i was just wondering if my engine and transmission can handle at least 300hp. i have the manuel. I heard that the 06 2.4 cobalts can handle 350hp but i wanted to see if anyone has done this before and did they have to do anything to the motor or tranny. Or should i just buy the LNF Engine or keep mine?

Thanks sorry again i know this just keeps repeating over and over.

swapping to an lnf in just way too much work for too little a result. Yeah, it comes already turbocharged, but you have wiring to be redone, as well as fuel stuff on account of being a direct injection platform.

Anywho, as per your original question, there have been plenty of people that have turbo'd their 2.4, one of them being my good buddy zdeuce. Talk to him if you want about his experience.

I was thinking that too but do you think i should swap my tranny for the SS/TC tranny? or will that be a problem too?

i would just abandon any idea of swapping right now. Save yourself the money and headaches. Just turbo the engine you've got.

10-12 psi.. put down 260 on the local mustang dyno(reads around 40-50 whp less than most dynos ive seen for "normal" numbers)... i had beaten a g8, sti, evo, lnf's from stock to 25 psi, mustangs, srt-4s, boosted hondas etc..

only track run was a 13.9 @ 109 on very low tread stock tires so it had alot more potential. i had a 50 trim on it also...

So my 2.4 would be ok with stock parts? What turbo would you recommend?

too bad you and carlos never got your grudge match out of the way before the beast was wrecked. That would've been a good match to see.

ME??!! I don't recommend ****! I just instigate **** for people to do!

seriously though, I'm not a turbo guru, OR a 2.4 guru. I just know people that point people in the right direction.

1. Dont try to swap the LNF in
2. To my knowledge its not possible to swap the LNF trans.
3. It is possible to swap to a 5spd from a 2.2 or 2.4 but not honestly worth the hassle time money and effort.
4. Yes an 06 2.4 will take to a turbo or supercharger very nicely!
5. Contact ZZP on one of their turbo kits (recommend stage 2 or higher due to those being intercooled)

There is nothing wrong with your transmission or motor...a swap is completely unnecessary. Do what you want to it but just understand what you're getting into. The question should be "Am I educated enough to do a turbo swap"...there are lots of things you should understand about it before you even attempt it.

HAHAHA what u think mine is. Man go low PSI and honestly u still will feel a great difference in power... So regardless u can handle the power. If I was u I would of turboed a whille ago... but those internals of mine keep me from going crazy haha.

Really? Ive seen plenty run 14's here (and yes they were the srt4s not just NA versions). And look at the trap. 109 is enough to get them on the street.

And 13.9 he said was on stock tires which are 205s and not grippy even when new

lol thank u sir.. people tend to forget that.(stock tires, and that it was my first time at the track boosted) . that was also on stock exhaust. i had some things redone after that, but never got a chance to run it again.. the srt i ran wasn't stock at all. i could beat my friends bolt on srt with ease as well. my only loss came to a pullied cobra that put down around 430 whp. he would beat me by half a car.

stock parts are fine.. but make the necessary upgrades as u go.. clutch if manual, exedy stg 2 is my suggestion along with a zzp adjustable clutch rod.

for turbos. im a precision turbo fan as well as any garrett 50 trim. i had a gt30 but blew that due to install errors the first go around, then i got the 50 trim. pickup on it is mid-high end so it will have some lag but 3k- redline is nothing but win
