Clean Your Cai

Don't forget to clean your air filter on your intake boys and girls. Just the other day mine was dirty as hell and in turn made my car sound like a V8 and go slower, as soon as i cleaned it, I got back about 10ish hp, so it killed my performance and now it sounds all good and clean again =)

Cleaning your air filter restores power....yes.....but 10hp.....uhhh.....no. The AEM/Injen/GMPP intakes I know were dyno tested and gained around 7hp on a 2.2/2.4, so getting 10hp out of just cleaning a filter isn't possible, lol.

It was PRETTY dirty, I was baffled for the longest time why my exhaust was making freaky distorted noises and i was going slower, the difference in power by guessing was similar to having the air conditioning on full blast compared to all the way shut off.

Good reminder. Cleaning your filter is key.

Also clean your Mass Air Flow Sensor. It helps a ton.

Good point I need to clean mine, should have did it while I still had it, the deer destroyed my headlight so I could just reach my hand down there and take it off lol

Of course the thread has to turn in to a bitch fest. Bleh Bleh 10 hp bleh bleh. Fact is he just meant your going to get more out of your intake when its clean. Thats another one of my tricks before I run at the track. My injen CAI always is much more free flowing after I recharge it before I go. I do have to clean the MASS AF too.

You know it Rangerondubz. Any Pep Boys or Autozone or O'Reillys Auto Parts.
Anything you have near you should have this. I use that exact brand. CRC, it's the best.

Just remove the MAF and spray the whole thing a couple times letting it dry in between sprayings. It's like night and day. It really helps the guys with the oiled filters but it will make a big difference for everyone.

Most people use way too much oil when re-oiling the filter.
Just lightly spray it and you'll be ok. Just after a some WOT, oil likes to kreep up.

I use the AEM dryflow filter because of this. I probably used to use too much oil myself.

So I would use the K&N recharge kit. Just be light on the oil and clean your MAf everytime you recharge your filter.

Is it a good idea to clean the MAF even if we use a dryflow for the airbox mod?

Yes it is. Cleaning your MAF can't hurt one bit. It's important to your performance and gas mileage to keep the MAF clean.

I use the dryflow as well and I clean mine everytime I clean the filter.
You will always feel a little difference after cleaning. You feel a big difference if it was oily before you cleaned it.

I used to get some boging and poor performance and couldn't figure out why.
I found I was using too much oil and the MAF was dirty.
A member told me to clean my MAF and it was like night and day.

Did you buy the kits to clean the Dryflow or did you use just regular soap and water before?

I buy the AEM kit. I go to ebay. Here is the link. $14.75 shipped.
You use both bottles when you clean the filter. So one box is one application.
