Better out of the hole but you paid the price in 5th gear. My cobalt actually feels faster, I'll have to go the the track to confirm that, hopefully soon, hopefully I can get the tires to stick. It is defenetly faster then 96 Lt1 Z28 I had before the 01. I love Camaros and wanted a new one but guess I'll have to wait till 09, but I was plesently surprised with the Cobalt.
Actually, there are plenty of people who can propel these cars to low 13 second passes. I have even heard "rumors" about a few breaking into the 12's, stock. Anyone who has even intermediate drag racing skills should be able run mid 13's in an LS1 Camaro!

To the thread starter. Sorry, he wasn't trying or it was a fake!

I dont know about 12's maybe w/ drags or mods, but not on street tires and surely not stock. I have seen a few magazines w/ modded ones of these and Z28's still chilling in the 13's. So 12's bone stock isnt going to happen, sorry.

Huhm....Considering that STi's weight that much and only turn out about 240-250whp and run low 13's why can't a stock Z28 run a high 12? 20-40 more hp is alot of hp for the same weight car.

AWD vs RWD.

AWD > RWD > FWD

Have you ever seen a fully modded STI vs a fully modded WS6 Firebird? I have, The lauch of the STI is freaking amazing, its like 0-30 in a split second, almost as if the Firebird didnt even move, but he did.

Also STI's are usually in the 250+ HP range, Ive even seen 275ish depending on the dyno, so really your probably dealing with similar HP cars, but the STI does have a slight weight advantage and AWD.

That's why I said "rumors"! Also, magazine numbers prove nothing! Most magazines say the Cobalt SS/SC runs 14.8 stock but we all know they can do better.

True, but you talking bringing the 14.8 down to 13.8 on a cobalt SS, theres never that much improvment. IM sure its capable of 13's, no doubt in my mind, but 12's is pushing it....

Just so I get this straight how much do F-bodies weigh? 3300 or 3800? That would be the deal breaker on stock vs stock. Fully modded vs fully modded could mean alot of different things. I dont' think it's terribly hard for a RWD car to hit a 1.7 60' time once they get some traction mods. Yeah there is no substitution for AWD when it comes to launching but RWD ain't bad either. If I didn't have AWD I would have gotten something RWD for sure.

270hp is a factory freak for an STi, or they were some really inflated numbers. 240-250.

I have witnessed at least 1 SS Camaro running between 13.1-13.2 pretty consistently, all stock. Maybe with a good tailwind, that is when we hear about these cars cracking 12's?!

3468 curb weight.

I agree, RWD is the ****, but Ive seen STI's cut 1.3-1.5's in the 60, and thts not even a 600 HP STI. Thats a 12.1 STI....

Camaro's with the 160hp 3.4 V6 can't come near 15s. They got the 3.8 with 200hp during the 1995MY. The 3.8 V6 Camaro's are in the mid to high 15s.

My friend had a 96 3.4 and ran 17.8 in the 1/4 mile. It did have 96,000 miles on it at the time though.
