I just got this tune yesterday and it's easily worth the money...way more kick in the a$$ from the tune than my SRI and GMPP exhaust added. I have the auto BTW, which I believe I'm the first on here with the Vector tune and an auto. The shifts are perfect, progressively harder depending on how hard you push the car. I like that not only is it giving more power but it's very smooth...it just rips like silk..so much better than stock. One run from 70-120 and you'll be

is it hard to swap the ECU? did you all do the crank relearn at the dealership after getting this done?

I'll be cruising up to Tune Time to get mine done with a dyno tune for the same price.
Tho I'm waiting till I get my header and cat back, no point in having it done before then.

You COULD spend a little more ($500 for me) and get a custom dyno tune where its for max performance for your car specifically and not just some other dudes 2.4L that they had on file. I got great results with that and raised my speed limiter to 170mph.

Our cars would blow up before you hit 170mph, lol

Back on topic, I'm still interested in the Vector tune. I have the SS/SC injectors in a box at my house still, and GTP said he could get his friends to dyno tune my car with HP Tuners, but I'm just having trouble finding time to get up there (NY) to do it and all. I've heard good things about the Vector tune, but I've heard it maxes out your injectors too. Does anyone know if its possible for Vector to tune in the SS/SC injectors with their tune?

Right now I'd say I'm about 50/50 on HP Tuners/Vector.

Jack, PM me with details if you don't mind. I might roll up with you and do the same if the time is right (and more importantly the money!). I'm in VA, so I'd imagine Tune Time isn't TOO far away, right?

We're not in NY we're in PA hour south of Pittsburgh. Is barely a 3 hour drive.

Lol, damn why was I thinking NY?! In that case, I'm still all for HP Tuners. It'll still be at least a month though. I wanna buy my new 19" first and foremost so I can get those back on for a few more months before the snow season comes. I'm still debating my intake situation too. I have the AEM right now. Could they tune the AEM in nicely and if I ever did change the intake, could they alter the tune as needed.

I don't agree with that and you yourself are running a "box tune". The Vector tune i had dynoed and it got 20+whp and 15-20ftlbs more than stock. AF was aceptable and literally it transformed the car. To blanket the statement and say that "ALL out of box tunes are bad" discredits many hours spent doing them. To say that custom tunes will get that much more of out the cars would be more accurate as the box tunes run slightly conservative.

So then why the switch from the Vector tune to HP Tuners? Just wondering. You liked the Vector it seems, so curious to why you dropped the Vector tune. Also, any noticeable differences from one tune to the other?

it just seems to be that for about another hundred bucks, any one of a few hundred shops will toss your car on the rollers and tune it for you. i'm not saying that vector did a bad job, i just don't see the point when after spend the money, any time you add a part, you can go back to whoever did the work and for about another $50, have it fine tuned for it.

All that's true, but you gotta realize that not everyone has has access to such a facility. I have TONS of "tuner" shops and such near me, and even so, not one said they'd be confident tuning my car with HP Tuners, as none of them were familiar with the LE5 motor and its ECU. The LSJ might have a strong shop following as far as tuner shops go, but the LE5 found in the 2.4SS, Ion 2.4, G5 GT, etc etc certainly dosent, at least where I live. Out here, unless you drive a Honda, an STI, an EVO or a Z, then your SOL. That's why people resort to canned tunes, b/c sometimes they just can't find someone who can tune their car, and not everyone wants to tune the car themselves, b/c not everyone (like me for instance) is familiar with PCM tuning.

Vector does not have a box tune for boost. No the Dan Spec tune is from my buddy and without dynoing it it might feel a tad stronger up top but a bit spongier on the bottom which is to be expected until I get to a dyno and he can see AF.

This "dan spec" tune, that's w/ HP Tuners right? As in HP Tuners tuned by a guy named Dan? When we tune my car, it'll be on a dyno for the a/f settings, right?

lol so when they tune a car in 0 humidity, and at low sea level and then you buy it and bring it to Indiana where humidity is always high as hell, your going to see differences in the tune. don't be cheap and buy an out of the box tune. you get MUCH more bang for your buck if you do a custom tune.

Yes, go the route of A/F parts first then tune, the end result will be better.
