Find some one with HPT around you that knows how to tune the LE5 and go that route you will be much happier that way, vs going with a can tune.

You might not know what to tweak, but a knowledgeable tuner will know what to do according to what you have done to your car. You can also give the tuner a basic idea of what your looking for in terms of a tune. Don't be discouraged by a lack of knowledge. Theres plenty of people out there willing to help you, you just gotta know where to look.

Unfourtunantly, no. I drove down to VA Beach and had Joe Rutledge (BennyHHR) tune my car. He's an HP Tuners guru.

No website, he's just an older guy who has a vast knowledge of the LE5 platform. I don't have his number on me at the moment, but give me until tommorrow and I can't get it for you. I believe REDFOCZ might have it as well in case he beats me to it.

I have seen 2 mustang dyno sheets of their canned tune on an LE5:

WHP gain: 10.2 to 11.2
WTQ gain: 5.2 to 7.7

It is super easy to install. Your ECM has 3 clips on it that you rotate 180 degrees and they unplug right away. My grandmother could do this.

I recommend you buy a new ECM from them, don'T send them yours. This way, you can always swap your stocker in there if ever you have to go in for maintenance.

Only tricky thing about getting a new ECM: you need a crankshaft position sensor relearn.
For this, you simply need to find any local garage that has a GM Tech2 scanner or a SnapOn scanner, and they both need to have the CANdi tool on them. My relearn cost me $40.
(just stop by any local garage and tell the guy you need a crank sensor relearn done with his SnapOn, he will do it; again, make sure it has the CANdi tool)

You will love the higher rev limiter, and removed top speed if ever you use it (!??!). The car feels lighter and more responsive, and definately faster

exchange is they send you one ( i assume tuned ) and you give them/send back yours..that way no down time and they can tune the one you return for the nx guy

the other option i suppose --- is you buy a whole new ecm and keep your old one

my only issue with vector is the tune will be locked/ you won't have the option to ever tweak it...... you'll have to pay them if you need upgrades later- unless you keep your old ecm- then you can always use that one

and if you need to ask what a core exchange is - stick with vector they have a great reputation

i own hp - its everything they say for a knowledgeable tuner and a major brain burn for a noob
and its unbelievably more complicated than you think and that gets even worse once you learn a lil bit and realise how much you don't understand - in other words you'll still be looking for someone to tune/help you with your car and needing to buy a pricey wb while you're at it...its just not necessary for your car-

and even if you find help - you won't get the "tune" vector has ready and waiting- as in tried and true for your application

don't forget with hp diy - you could easily wreck yuh motuh or tranny learnin - unless you are planning serious mods involving changing injectors addin/changing a sc or turbo- you don't need that save yourself some grief

whats a core exchange ? speaks volumes - you spoke with wisdom when you said you don't know anything about tuning.....trust your instincts
hp is a marvelous tool but its an incredible hard learn............. imo go with vector and you're done !- no pain -just gain
