Engine Dieseling after SRI installed
#26
I'm a little hesitant to take it to the dealer for a problem that appeared after the sri was installed. I don't want to be charged for them to just look at it or whatever it is they need to do.

what other problem happened.

Not sure what you are referring to but nothing else has happened. I do need to take it in anyway to have a noise looked at that comes from the front end when ever i make a sharp right hand turn at lower speeds. And to hopefully get some of the cheap interior stuff replaced that is showing signs of wear already.

i dont think theyl replace interior stuff for basic wear and tear.
so its just that noise and the intake. hmm well try what i said previously run higher octane clean the filter or buy a dry one thats all i know for know il do some research.

I already run the highest octane available around here I believe it is 91. I can't seem to find anything higher than that, I know where I lived prior to now (Pennsylvania) there were places where I could get 93 and 94 but I just can't find any down here in Texas.
I will also try to clean the filter as soon as i can get the use of an air compressor. And I have read on here about other people getting interior parts replaced because of paint chipping.

I have read similar issues on other threads in here. My suggestion is to disconnect the negative battery cable for about 15 minutes to clear the ECU. Then pull the MAF sensor out and spray it clean with some carb cleaner. Put the MAF back in and attatch the battery cable. If the filter you got was used, either go buy the cleaning kit from K&N for $9.99 or buy a new filter. The only sound i get out of my intake is a little "poot" when i turn it off. Is that what everyone is talking about? Generally when a filter comes from the factory oiled, it wouldnt be over oiled. Meh, do with my info what you will, i just read that on one of the other threads.
And i think the manual calls for 92 octane or better.

Okay... new idea...
Unhook the intake from the car... so you can see the TB and everything. Then turn the car on and let it idle. It won't hurt anything b/c there isn't going to be any substancial airflow for the MAF to read.
Once that's done you can turn the car back off and see if it is indeed the butterfly slapping closed.

it's possible I suppose... extra unmetered air coming in... but that would be kinda hard to do on a 2.4... y'all ain't got much going on to cause a leak.
I'm just wondering if his TB is sticking open or something... letting more air in.
