dude ask a friend to take you out and teach you how to drive a standard, if you have one. yyou will regret getting an automatic to mod. -no offense to the automatic guys- but you soon start to realize it takes a lot more work to make it as fast as a standard. and definately wayyy more fun driving a standard, seriously.

yes yes i made a point to go manual, and you know what i learned how to drive manual on it too. i honestly think i would be a waste of money to buy another car no matter how much just to learn how to drive on.

plus the manuals are way funner, especially as torquey as these cars are!

like say, my 2.2 has i/h/e, with 10% loss i'm estimating i'll be around <150 whp, your 2.4 auto stock with 20% loss would be like...>140 whp..with i/h/e you'd probably be at around a little above 150 whp, since you have an automatic and your exhaust is already better than my 2.2 stock exhaust.

and i only payed 13k for my car.. if you're gonna pay a lot more for a faster car..make sure its faster:P

Dive four hours a day in traffic and then decide.
Do you like to eat and shift at the same time.
Do you want to replace the clutch every 60,000 to 100,000 depending on how you drive.
I mean if it was a mustang gt or something with power and you put a stall in than yes

i learned to drive a standerd 15 years ago on my first car .Automatics tend to wear better
stick do have there advateges like saving brakes down shifting but i dont care who you are
you can not out shift a automatic so what you lose in whp you gain back in shift speed.

even if you could get close you would ruin your clutch in no time

actually, it's not even close... it's a few percent at MOST in the cobalt, and in some cars, the auto is FASTER than the manual...

you tend to forget the fact that its a 4-speed vs. a 5-speed...you know what that means? the gearing on the auto sucks, and hence a lot slower REGARDLESS of whp. AM I WRONG!? AM I WRONG!?

in theory? no, you're not wrong... but, lots of people that drive manual cobalts are not very good drivers... a good driver with a manual will take anyone with an auto... shitty manual driver, and i'd give the race to the auto...

in theory, that is ass backwards, and i'm probably talking out of my ass because i'm going on no sleep, and should have been in bed hours ago...

haha, i just wanted to do the Big Lebowski impersonation because i am currently addicted to that line, 'AM I WRONG!? AM I WRONG!?'

But naw seriously, I thought the auto SS is running around 15.9 while the stick SS is running around a 15.4.
