Exhaust/Header/Downpipe options

I'm trying to find out what would be the best for each piece to put on the 2.4 (pretty much all stock). Plz post what is the best and why if you would.

sorry but there is no clear cut "best". Some pieces work better with different set-ups. Do a little research you'll actually learn something.

What's the benefit of a catless dp vs one with a cat?

it will make maybe a 1hp difference without the cat. nothing that you would notice though. get a cat so it doesnt sound ricey and annoying(unless that is what you are going for). oh and if you have emmissions keep the cat so u pass.

The high flow cat.......flows more. Just like the name says. (basically it's less restrictive than the stock cat)

on a 2.4... i wouldnt go long tube headers, its a waste unless your going turbo. dont go zzp midlength or vibrant etc. i know the zzp has nice pair of stainless shorties that i would get

is long tube really overkill for 2.4? i thought it still helps out throughout the power band more than midlength and shorty

Doesn't a turbo manifold replace the headers?

midlength is geared toward mid range and top end power.. frankly i think it's perfect for a 2.4 .. i love my zzp setup on my 2.4.. shorties provide low to mid power and full long tubes ( like the weapon r) supposedly give the best full powerband gains

idk .. i guess we'll only know when i get tuned and dyno'd or something.. it's really hard to make a test unless illmatics and i dyno on the same day since we'll be tuned by the same person .. and he has a short header and i have the midlength it'd be as close as you can get i think

Wait, cause you said long tubes are useless unless it's turboed.

And with the long tube headers on the mod list there's only 2 different kinds- Weapon R Race Headers and JBP Vortex Headers- are either of these good and are there any others?

isnt the ca v1 a shorty? or mid length?

i would do the ca v1 with the xtc downpipe and instead of going ***** out on a 400+ dollar cat back just get a high flow resonator and muffler and have a muffler shop switch the 2.25 second of ur exhaust to 2.5. will cost u around 200 bucks and get equal if not better gains.

so far i have the down pipe with high flow cat from Cobalt-addiction, and the GM Performance Cat-Back for my exhaust and i have a header coming in which i beleive is a CA V1 header from cobalt addiction. Even without the header right now it sounds nice. Its like a low purr when idling and then when you take off to race someone it sounds mean. Totaly nice if you want your car to be a sleeper on not make lots of noise.
