A Few 2.4 Questions..
Hey guys..
1. I have a 2.4 with the only go-fast mod being an Injen intake. I'm buying a GMPP exhaust off a local member within the month. The Performance one. How much HP/TQ did the Injen probably add, and then how much will the GMPP add onto that? I also have a few non-adding mods like the Shift Plus, and synthetic fluid to smoothen things out. Few more little things on the way.
2. After the GMPP, come spring, a tune may be a good idea since I won't be supercharging it for over a year. I'm auto so the tune will certainly yield benefits. how much does a tune usually cost for the usual requests? I wouldn't want to DYNO tune it until I go s/c, so this is for a non-dyno version..
3. After you s/c the 2.4, what'll your gas mileage drop to running a normal sized pulley and everything? Hell, if you have any idea on the stock pulley, then any "Stage" related numbers, feel free to let me in on those..
4. How much HP/TQ will a header + dp + high-flow-cat combo yeild you after the GMPP and Injen?
5. What kind of things can I have done to my car with the tune? Auto 2.4. '06 by the way, if that matters..
I figure that with the stock numbers being like 175, probably add 7 for the Injen, then 13 for the GMPP? Add 20 hp to get it to 195 crank (so then a solid probably 160 range wheel) should make it pretty reasonable. Then probably another 20 for the rest of the exhaust, maybe 15 for the tune - bringing it up to maybe 230 na, then add another 60 for the s/c in stock trim to 290.. Sound like that's a reasonable ballpark in any way?
I think that's all for now.. I'll post if I think of any more.. Thanks!

Are you using the SS/SC cooling system and did you use the SS/SC PCM, or have your ECM tuned for the supercharger?

but all that stuff is not necessary in order to supercharge your 2.4. You need the parts (1500) and a tune (~300)

I know.. But I need the brakes, and the suspension would be awesome. The s/c would certainly be cool, but I'm trying to move and ****.. Spending almost 2 grand isn't too logical at the present time..

I think those estimates are a little high. I had an intake, downpipe, catback, and a tune and I still only put down about 160whp.
Believe it or not, these mods aren't really going to net you much as far as power. Now if you were to have some work done to the head, some cams, and then all of this crap, then you might see some decent gains.

Yeah, I'm certainly not assuming that I'm gonna add an intake and beat Mustang GT's. lol. But more so than power, these mods really smooth things out. The response is better. So that's worth more in my book. At the end of the day, it's still a Cobalt. I don't need 400hp. lol. So I'm gonna do the rest of the stuff first, then after all is said and done, consider the s/c swap..
Would I benefit any from getting the entire LSJ motor, or just piece everything together?
