gmpp exhuast
i was just curious, for those of you who bought the gmmp catback, why didnt you just get the muffler?
it uses the same size piping as the cobalt has stock anyways, so wouldnt just getting a muffler show the same results? Wondering if there is any other major difference, getting an exhuast in the spring
nobody..

one at a time, im just curious as to why people buy the catback for this particular exhuast when it uses the same size piping. I was under my car a few weeks back and its not like the factory stuff is crush bent crap piping.

thats retarded...catbacks are pointless anyways all you pay for is the name. You can get a muffler and replace the part of the exhaust that goes down to 2.25 begining at the rear tire with 2.5 for less than half the price of a 600 dolar catback

well here is the thing
cat-backs are generally engineered (SP) and tuned accordingly to how a company wants their product to sound
putting a muffler, some pipe and a resenator together will not always give you the wanted sound
yes, a custom muffler+resenator combo is cheaper, and yes, gives you the same performance resaults, but the problem is the factor that you have no idea what sound your getting.
heres a easy way to look at it
Aftermarket Cat-back:
Pros:
Sound Tuned
Cons: Costs more money
Custom Cat-back
Pros:
Cheap
Cons:
Not Tuned Sound, Unknown resaults.
thats pretty much it in a nutshell for anyone wondering.

People need to relise its just not about the size of the pipe when dealing with exhuast, there this lil thing called flow. The the GMPP cat backs flow much better then the stock exhuast. they have high flowing mufs and mendal bent pipes. they sounds great also

i thought someone got it dynoed with the gmpp exhaust and got 1whp gain for the 2.4 because of the smaller piping
i know the 2.0L can get 12whp gain but thats because its F/I.
does anyone else have dyno for 2.4?

It's about FLOW god damnit. Not piping size.
The GMPP mandrel bent piping flows better than the stock piping.
CRUSH bent...
See how it narrows? Screws up flow...
Mandrel Bent. SMOOTH LIKE MY ASS

GMPP flows 10x better than the stock piping. And it sounds a hell of a lot better than just chopping off the muffler and welding up a new muffler.
And the GMPP cat-back is made by Borla...

im not much into the noise of a fourbanger so will simply replacing the piping with mandrel bent stainless do.
