When you disconnect the battery, disconnect both terminals so it will reset the computer. It needs to relearn the air/fuel curves, especially with a higher flowing intake. The only time i had a CEL was when I put it on without disconnecting the battery. A day or so later, it went into retard mode and threw a CEL. I disconnected the battery completely and reconnected a minute or so later, no problems since. Make sure you have a large enough filter, that will cause a throw as well!
As for noise, if you want a nice deep roar like mine, (ill post video in a lil while) make it suck from inside the engine bay like a short ram. cold air will move it outside.

P.S. the battery terminals come off with a size 10 metric socket. its a little nut on top. screw it off, then be careful not to touch the terminal as you just wiggle off the post. it will come straight up. be sure to secure it afterwards because it will tend to go back into position (aka touching the post, which will cause sparks if the positive is still attached). It's best to leave both off, especially if you are trying to reset stuff. BE WARNED, YOU HAVE TO RESET YOUR CLOCK (and i think radio presets although i have never had to worry about it. mine are always there and i've reset it several times)
P.S.S. For those who havent noticed, our battery is in the truck underneath the grey flooring. It will lift straight up. There is a compartment with the spare tire and battery. If it's not light out or you have poor sight, use a flashlight.

Check my gallery, I made it. I took pieces from a shitty cold air (90 dollar one from ebay, I needed the MAF bung so I cut out that section of piping) and pieces of the Pep Boys do it yourself intake kit that runs for about 45 bucks. Looks pretty good if i do say so myself. It impressed a bunch of ricers at the local street meet. they were giving me a hard time for having the only cobalt/domestic there and i told em to sit and spin as i opened the hood. they shut up after examining my engine One guy didnt believe i made it, until i showed him how easily it was put together.
