Nitrous oxide is consider a "chemical injection". It definitely does NOT allow you to compete in an "NA" class.

Nitrous is made up of (1) one oxygen molecule and (2) two nitrogen molecules. The Nitrogen molecules act as a carrier for the oxygen.

In order to make more power you need to burn more fuel.
In order to burn more fuel you need more oxidizer (oxygen).

Nitrogen will NOT burn so the result from using nitrous oxide is a tremendous increase in exhaust gases since you have burned more fuel and oxygen AND you have all that nitrogen left over.

That being said, if you choose to use nitrous oxide, especially on a supercharged engine, you will greatly benefit from a free flowing exhaust system; header, converter and cat-back. When on "the bottle", you will want the largest primary tubes and exhaust as possible. Off the bottle you may give up some torque but your mileage will increase.
