Gutted Res
Tonite at my mechanics shop we decided to take off the res and just weld on new 2.5 piping, but on inspection we decided it would be better just to gut it. i notice a slight increase in speed (mind you it is winter so i cant really tell) or it might be my mind playing tricks on me lol. it sure sounds alot nicer tho, we are geting the new muffler once the snow melts... looking forward to it!

yeah but why?
the HP loss from a resonator is near neglegable.
if anything you may gain some low torque from having it in there.
but the major reason for a resonator, is that without it, 4 cylinders sound like a chainsaw.
just doesnt make any sense.
your not gonna gain anything from it other than a more raspy exhaust.

I had an SLP catback on my old Grand AM, once the resonator was gone it really made it sound alot better... I dont think inspection would notice it gone, as long as you have cat and muffler should be fine

When my brother had his 2000 monte carlo ss, he took his resonator off his borla cat back and it sounded like sex. But then again, that was a 6 banger...And it wasn't loud at all...his borla exhaust made it quieter than stock...no joke
