Here go my 2 cents on the turbo kit. This in NOT a knock on the SS/SC, Turbo kit, or anything in general.

I think it's awesome. I got my 2.4 SS 5spd for 15,600. Thats about 4,500 less than an SS/SC.

A supercharger runs of the engine using a belt and pulley. That equals parasitic.

A turbo is a more efficient means of adding power to a car. Using spent exhaust gas as a way to spool the turbo.

The 240hp is claimed WHP. the SS/SC is 200hp claimed at the crank. ( I understand this is an underated number). But comparing the 200hp crank of the SS/SC to the 240whp= about 280hp at the crank. So on 8psi with 80 more HP plus the ability to increase that with more boost.

I think I'm going to do this because for the price it isn't bad to have something that seems backed up by a company.

I'm tired so this might not make TOTAL sense but I hope it helps

Thanks,
Sean

SS/SC = 8 000$ more expensive at purchase and 125$ more expensive on insurrances per month (when I checked early april) so having a 4000$ turbo kit that produces even numbers to the SS/SC for 3 100$ less per year (on a 5 year contract) ADDED to the fact that with a simple boost controller we could go WAY past SS/SC hp and torque numbers... I think it's well worth it.

oh and Turbo > Supercharger anyday.

the 2.4 turbo will be well worth the money, i dont regret not buying a 2.0 supercharged at all! anyway, Bill, on another note there is alot of us on here that have 2.4 automatic's, so many in fact there are people on here who think the 2.4 only comes in automatic. so what alot of us are wondering is, What can we do to get the automatic turbo kit built for us? Maybe you could put a post up in the regional forums on here to see if you can get a test car up by you, but if not i will make the 8 hour trip myself since im so eager to have this.

I am trying to talk a guy in my neighborhood into letting Bill use his car for testing. I'll let you all know how it goes.

thats good to hear....and also commenting earlier posts stage 1 at 3k producing an anticipated 215hp to a stage 2 at 3500-4000 producing 240.....might as well make the jump to 240 for 500-1000 and save the trouble of upgrading down the road.....
...........i do have a couple more questions for you Bill

1. as far as the ecm goes.....will it be a 'send off and retune' job or will the kit include a brand new specialy tuned module...(i think i actually mean PCM module but its late and i cant rem. what.....)

2. how will you work upgrading between stage kits.....say we buy stg2 at 3750 and then want stage 3 set at 4500....do we pay the 4500...( hope not thats rediculous...) or is there a new lowered price just for the needed upgraded parts?..

keep up the good work and looking forward to some answers....and i wouldnt mind a stg1 option...pending prices lower than 3k......

1. We'll do it either way...we can reflash your existing unit, or you can buy a new one. Most folks do the former.

2. Typically, our Staged Upgrades are rather affordable, since the basis of the higher power levels is already built into the turbosystem. So, you can start at any point, then work your way up the ladder, just adding more parts, as opposed to replacing parts you've already purchased.

I'd prefer reflashing the exisiting one so while its out being reflashed I can be installing the turbo and doing a couple of other things.

I'll do layaway for you. LOL. Pay the full price and I'll lay the kit away from you and see how long it takes you to beg for it on your car. LOL. J/K BTW.

As far as I know HRC doesn't do layaway plans. LOL. Would be nice though. But I'm sure Bill will chime in if I'm wrong.

You can finance it...it's called a credit card Just prepare to get raped by the CC company. If you have good credit you could also float a loan, not a good idea at all when modding a car, but then you would have a smaller monthly payment and a low interest rate, in most cases lower than a CC. But taking out loans is not how you mod a car....it's how you build a racecar you can make money on.

Nope, thats a stock SS/SC. Black face speedo to 160 gives it away, and the stock boost gauge.
