hanging idle and cruise problem

when i pull up to a stop sign my idle hangs at about 1500-2000 rpms, then drops right down to idle..

also my cruise doesnt work either... the light comes up on the steering wheel .. maybe fuse?

well any help would be appreciated.. somebody said it might be a clutch switch that broke?

I am having the same problem with the idle

For the cruise control, check the under the hood fuse box, find the exh fuse

the idle is normal, they all do that....it doesn't drop down till you basically come to a complete stop...if it really hangs for a few seconds then you may need to clean your throttle body.

as far as the cruise control, idk...fuse is always your first bet

the idle hang is in the tune, its to keep the rev's up for not only vacuum but so theres not as much of a drive line shock if you do a "rolling stop"

also the cruse doesn't work because you ride with your foot on the clutch pedal and you've fault'd out the upper clutch sensor switch.

pull the battery cables and let the PCM reset, you'll be good to go from there.

that is, untill you fault it out again.

Not always

I blew a fuse while screwing around with my o2 sensor
disabled the cruise control

Well with his cruise light still working I don't think its the fuse. I had the same problem 2 times and every time all I needed to do was reset the PCM.

its not a dirt "only" issue.

this is a pre-programed response to low wheel speed.

i gave you your answers.

So every time you do that your suppose to have to go reset it? Because when I use cruise control and depress the clutch to shift down a gear when going up a hill, I can just start cruise up again right away.

its not an every time issue, its a continues issue.

the clutch circuit has a timer on it in the pcm....if it reads one switch as open while the other is closed for a prolonged amount of time, it faults out that switch.

thus disableing that switch.

P0171 Fuel Trim System Lean -PCM.....

thats the code it threw today.. car is running like ****.. it feels like i put in solid engine/tranny mounts at low speed / rpm...

another wierd part is i cleaned my car before i went out tonight and i cleaned my exhaust tip as well.. i drove for 20 min and looked at my exhaust tip and it was full of black sut.. lots of it and i just cleaned it up before i drove anywhere (when i left i got the CEL)

i do have an exhaust leak but could that really cause this? in the morning im going to check my intake for any leaks and i doubt i have any vaccum leaks.. id check now but its 27 degrees out

Gotcha. Thought maybe perhaps I had some wiring differences. Good to know I won't fault it out though just switching down a gear, don't hold it in long enough.

i dont know. i know that not driving the car wont help, it isnt the cause of the maf being dirty, but take it for a nice long crusie on the highway and some back roadds clear it out and let it get nice and warm. i dont know what else it could be
