Help with Injen intake...

Hey guys, I'm TK. I never really post on the forum but i check it daily. Anyways, I have a few questions because i'm in an interesting situation.

I have a 2.4L Cobalt, and I ordered my Injen CAI from cobalt-addiction. I'm honestly not very mechanically inclined, and i'm busy lately so I had a local mechanic install it for me. Alright, so the installation goes smoothly, everything's fine. But he calls me and tells me that Injen actually welded the mass air flow sensor in BACKWARDS? I don't have much knowledge so i thought i'd ask you guys. From how he explained to me, i think he's right?

Here, look for yourself...

If it was actually built wrong from the factory, what should I do now? My mechanic already charged me for 4 HOURS of work...yeah, i'm wastin big money. And the guys at Injen said they didn't have that part in stock. They said to take pictures and email them to em, so I guess that's all i can do for now. I'm kinda confused on what i should do... Has anyone else had this happen?!

If this is an idiotic thread, please forgive me!! Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

Cant you just turn the sensor upside down and install it? (I donno if that would work but just a thought). And yea ma your wasting money. It may seem a bit intimidating if you havnt done any modding at first but its nothing. But yea in any case id just install it upside down and see what happens.

Yeah bro, it flows fine when it's upside down. But the problem is that when the adapter is upside down, the holes in the adapter don't match up... so it can't be screwed in.

I asked Injen if this was even possible, and they said it was extremely rare. Maybe I just have bad luck haha...I dunno, any more replies are appreciated.

Damn, that's what I figured. Well thanks for lookin out man, i appreciate it.

I just hope Injen will cooperate...one man i talked to today went off on me about how this intake isn't "specifically mastered" for my car because it's a 2.4 and not a 2.2! It took me about 10 minutes to convince him I had a Cobalt SS that wasn't a 2.0 supercharged, haha...

Well anyways guys thanks for helpin me out!

Yeah I know, i found it pretty hard to believe when I saw the time it took for most people on this site. He said it took him 2 hours to take the bumper off and put the intake on...and then two hours to take it all off again to put the stock parts back on...

I'm pretty sure I got screwed over...not much i can do now though.

If you don't have a SS/SC why did he gave to take the front bumper off anyways? Isn't the air intake on the 2.4 completely inside the engine compartment? If it is you definately got ripped off for 4 hours!

not necessarlily, the CAI is located under the right passengerside headlights bracket.. the short ram is inside the engine comartment... so i mean its a totaly different thing... really all he had to do was put the passengerside on jackstands and take off the front wheel & wheel well and youd be fine... but he took off the front bumper which works also

Get this.

So I just picked my car up, the mechanic charged me 250 DOLLARS. What do I gain? Nothing...I'm so pissed.

So I call Injen, right? The idiot I talked to says that he can't do anything for me because this intake isn't "specifically made" for my car. He doens't understand that it's not the fact it's not for my car, it's the fact they built it wrong. I'm angry to my limit right now.

I guess I'll talk to the guy at CA...but I can't afford to throw out 500 bucks like this, i can't beileve it. Any help is appreciated!! GAHHH.

i looked at your pics is the drilled holes on the tube backwords or what. try just bolting it on unless it dont line up. flip the map of maf whatever it is. it isnt that hard you seemed to get it apart now put it back together.

TK. I'm in Dodge City Kansas for a couple weeks. If your around that area of the state I can look at it and possibly help you. I am mechanically inclined. I'm also free. (4 hours is rape ). So if you end up getting a new one I'll install it for free just cause I enjoy it. I even have my own tools.

PS. I didn't read all the posts here so if this problem has already been fixed congrats! If not PM me.

Tell that idiot that the 2.2L and 2.4L have the exact same intake systems. Also, I have an easier way to install and service the CAI other than bumper removal. I went in from underneath.
