help with raspy exhaust
just installed a c-a header, 3.0" catless downpipie and 2.5 pacesetter monze exhaust last night on my car. its loud, really loud, but raspy. I mean civic on steriods raspy, but fast. lol. any ideas on how to get rid of the rasp? I heard about using a resonator or should I just get a new muffler? thanks for the help.

really, you'll have to ditch the monza. i had it on my 2.2, and was raspy as all hell. but, what i did that helped big time was to put a resonator in since it doesn't have one. other than that, a different muffler. nothing else to do.

i had a 12" but i would even try to get a bigger one if you can. the 12" made it better, but still didn't sound good. catless dp is making it even worse. the pacesetter exhaust is a compromise. it's better quality than most people give it credit for, and sounds pretty good by itselft. but once you add other exhaust parts it really sounds like crap. but you can't expect it to do everything for half the price of most exhausts, and sometimes 1/3 the price.
on the 2.2, i just went with the cheapest parts out there, and in turn i had a car that sounded like crap. on the 2.0 i spent the extra money to get good stuff, and it's just so worth it. the car sounds great now. but that also cost a LOT more money too. but so worth it.

it's hard to have it all bro. with your setup, you have 2 choices. free flowing, and sound like ass, or sound good but start adding restrictions. but if you get a performance hi-flow resonator it shouldn't really add much restriction at all.

yea, will make a huge difference bro. i had the cobalt addiction set up last time, and this time i have the zzp mid lenght and downpipe, and also a magnaflow cat. sounds SO much better this time around. i think it would be worth it to get a better exhaust.

Any 4-cyl w/o a cat is gonna be raspy. I have a CA header, XTC 2.5" de-cat downpipe and an ARK N2 cat-back, and its waaaay loud and deep, but it gets raspy as hell at higher rpms. But I actually like the rasp myself. Sounds aggressive IMO.
My question to you is though.....why did you get a header w/ a 2.25" collector, bolt that to a 3" downpipe, and finish it off w/ a 2.5" cat-back???
