I got it up to 800 rpms today.....
And immediately it decided to shear the keys in the keyway on the camshaft sprockets...
Just pulled two sprockets from a saturn so we will see how that goes. I do not dare post any videos/threads dedicated to it here since its not in a cobalt tho.

hey pursuit or fiero can you post a link to the build thread yall are talking about. i want to see how the L61 head works with our car or what other things are needed to make it work with our bottom ends.
thats very interesting to take the L61 head and run their cams.
also pursuit what program gained more access to the intake timing? HPT or vince?

Its running now but issues with my laptop are making it a pain to start tuning it. My AFR table reads as volts (which I could convert over but a pita), and I updated my software and now it freezes the program every 30 seconds or so.
Hopefully work on it a bit more tonight and this week.
Snapped one pic of it today, first time its been out in 9 months

Well i never explored Trifecta, as well no offense as it is a good program, i just don't like the tuning process.
With the second latest Beta version of HPT my tuner has full control over my VVT. (there is no reason to mess with the exhaust cam though.)

I snapped the woodruff key at the oil pump area on it 1/3 back, so the timing and water pump were ok, but it ran without oil for about 30 seconds before I noticed the gauge.
Key is on backorder from GM, should of been here yesterday. I may start a dedicated thread up in here. Just don't want to **** dedicated Cobalt owners off with my Pontiac

Yeah, its a whole lot better than what it was before, a completely different engine. I still need to tune as WOT AFR is only about 13.2 and I have only 14-20-24 timing.
After I tune it I will know for sure, but there is no "jump" in power at 3800rpms and its 100% streetable. I would put money on it that the LE5 bottom helps A LOT. Maybe next year summer I will put the custom cams in it, but those will be fine for a bit

But what if the two people he heard of are the same two people I have heard of?
What if there are more people who had the problem but have not posted about it on this forum?
Are there people who own cobalts who don't post on CSS?
I have been trying to follow your build on a few different forums. Do you have your one single ultimate forum thread that covers everything regarding your build?

^ I wish I did, there is no single thread. However the latest one, with the build of the LE5L61 hybrid can be found here:
EcotecFiero's LE5/L61 Build, finally!
Because my car went through so many dramatic changes (build of the 3.8v6, install of the L61 x2, suspension/brake, paint, LE5 original, LE5 hybrid) there is basically a single thread that covers each section :P
