Just wondering how much the 2.4L motor can handle? I know my 2.2L can handle 250whp before my rods go. Im looking into trading teh 2.2 in for a 2.4 and putting my kit on it. just wanted to know the specs. Thanks

I was hoping you would chime in celica. I wont see those tq numbers..i hope otherwise my tranny will go boom haha. Plan on getting a 5speed. Are you on a safe tune? could you squeeze more out of it?

 

what it's "rated" and what others are holding power at without problems are two different things.

 

Blake (red2.4SS) has a 5spd turbo 2.4

for example, LSJ pistons go at 250, and the sleeves at 450. People have blown both with relatively minor mods, and then again, pauls freak motor is over 400whp on bone stock everything. All in the tune...

 

the thing i would be worried about is the tranny in the 5spd 2.4..the motor can handle the boost real well...just look at the hahn solstice they did up..

 

tranny isnt the weak link the cavi platform has proven that its a worthy competitor

 

The 2.4L LE5 is the best ecotec out there. Bill Hahn says they can be tuned to 400hp and still be reliable. The LSJ can handle 400hp but it has not been proven reliable for a long time. (Yes I know it has been done)

Now remember. The engine can handle that much.

Don't mean to thread jack but can the auto tranny hold more tq then the manual? I've been told by people that each can hold more.

 

really in a sense no, but people like to think it does because its easier on the tranny because the car is controlling the shifting reducing driver error as opposed to what a manual tranny can have happen

 

my tune sucks actually. I just dont have anyone around me to have a better one. I could easily pull more power with a tuner that knew what he was doing.

I would just be more comfortable having the tuner be there in person to address all the tiny issues that come up.

both 2.2 and 2.4s can handle roughly 275-300 chp rods are the weak point on 2.2l the 2.4 uses a lil beffier set up

 

the auto is rated to hold more.. the auto is rated for 315-ft lbs. The manual is rated in the 100 range (like 175tq i think?) However, with a clutch swap, many cavi guys see 400whp on their F23. I would assume the low rating on the F23 is due to the clutch, and once that is upgraded, the tranny can hold its own pretty well

celicacobalt You have an auto and its turbo? How hard is it to set that up. Iv been thinking about putting a turbo on mine.
