I just saw the thread so I thought I would chime in. Def. don't twincharge. Next get rid of the LSJ intake, they are garbage. The plastic intake won't break. The 256ext will work great, but the 252 will be better suited for you power goals. The tranny will hold up great until you put slicks on the car. Take it easy on the tranny and it will be reliable until about 375- 400whp. If anything, over intercool and keep your piping to a max of 2.5". You should just use a 2.4 throttle body. Drive ability will be better and you don't need anything bigger until about 650whp. Sorry if I was to late with the info, haven't been in the 2.4 section lately.

Edit: Found the supercharger bolt on, still looking for the turbo.. I must be blind.
Edit: Ah, finally found it. Anyways, so pricing for a turbo kit stage 1 runs 2k? Maybe I should start with CAI first :/ OR would a -cheaper- route be buying a stock TC off of someone from a SS?

if you want real power then you better go for broke. you'll end up there one way or another.

Well, still paying it off :/ So can't go for broke just yet. Bank wouldn't like me modding a car that isn't technically mine yet. Just want a decent ~50 hp increase really. 300 is a bit overboard with me and stuck with a budget of about $700 :/

Awesome, appreciate the feedback. I actually browsed zzp for a few last night and this morning. Re-looking at it, because I'm not sure what specifically I need to just "bolt on" and go. Any linking would be appreciated.

I just ran across this thread and I have to say, thank you.. lol I was so lost as to auto trannys along side a turbo, didn't know how our auto trannys would fair. Although I do have a 2.2l LS so are the trannys any different or are they the same, hmm maybe i should just wiki it :P but i was planning on just going SC or TC because of the easy maintaining but now i've reconsidered. I want at least 300+ hp with my car. So what would be the best route for me since I have a 2.2?

^ Engine internals and a zzp kit with the s252 and u would be happy the cost adds up though trust me but if u stay under 250 u don't necessarily need to do engine internals such h as rods..pistons..valvesprings for the most part those are the weakest links in the 2.2 and the valve springs aid in high revving

As for the 250 HP thought what all would I need for that, just the stage 1 zzp kit and I'm good to go or what?
EDIT: Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions. I'm still very new at all this but I'm starting to really enjoy the whole aspect of it

I would only consider the stage 2 or 3. You don't need to upgrade the short block internals even at 300whp. To get past the 300whp mark I would recommend valve springs. The bottom end is plenty strong at 300whp. Anyone doing a high compr. engine with a turbo needs to have some attention to detail, no half assing going on. Keep the boost in check, always run 93oct or better. The excuse that I let my girl drive my car and she put 87 in the tank is no ones fault but your own. Never over look the tunning. If you can't tune have someone that is experienced handle the job, not your neighbor that said he can. Find someone with proof that they have knowledge. Your motor will live to see many more days if you can just get this stuff figured out. Oh yea don't forget to do your oil changes.

Okay so if I did decide to go for 300+ I would absolutely have to upgrade engine internals? But if I just go for 250 and then decide that it's not enough power for me I could always just order the internals anyway and just up the boost and such afterwards for more power correct?
As for the 250 HP thought what all would I need for that, just the stage 1 zzp kit and I'm good to go or what?

Like Ryan said its not absolutely necessary to change internals at 250+ but your starting to have a pretty big chance of breaking something but yes don't do the stage 1 I would definitely go stage 2 or 3 with an s252 if u want a fast spooling Turbo...the s256 is a good Turbo which I have it just take a little longer to spool but I had a higher power goal that 300 so that's why I went with the s256et but listen to Ryan as he is a very smart guy but i can help u out for the most part with any questions u need helped out with

Ok so this is @Ryan, would I be able to order a stage 2 or 3 kit to come with the s252 instead of the s256? Since I'm an auto tranny I need something that is going to spoil up very quickly considering that I can't keep the boost where I need it against say another turbo with a manual tranny but you already knew that is this the reason for the s252?

i like how you point this out ryan and initially customers were not given a chance to order the s252 when zzp first started selling the stage 2 turbo kits for 2.4,2.2 guys. this makes me laugh when i think of the low/mild boost numbers we're pushing for the turbo size when the s252 should have been the first option apparently. i love my zzp stage 2 turbo kit but i did have to change a few things to be completely happy with it..

The 256 spools plenty quick in the auto and boost will never fade between shifts like manual, (of course there are ways around that). The 252 will support all the power you will need and will spool noticeably faster than the 256. Both have great power bands but if I had to chose between the two for a quick spooling, good gas mileage, light to light car it would be the 252. If you wanted a highway killer than maybe the 256. At the boost levels that most of the 2.4, 2.2 guys are running the 256 is a little over kill. Again it is all preference. I am used to bigger turbos with more lag but the power goal is higher in most cases so there is a trade off. I did love driving our blue car though, it spooled fast and I didn't have to shift That car needs to be turbo again, wait maybe it's going to be

i run an fmic with custom pipe and switched from the 6mm zzp supplied vacuum line to the proper tial recommended 4mm vacuum. boost gauge reads more accurately after the vac line swap.

Yeah I'd rather not pc anything together and not to mention even ryan recommended not to pc one together either and just buy a kit so that's what im going to do haha. I do have another question though.
@Ryan does the kit come with eveything I will need or are there things that I need to buy separately, like maybe a 2.4l tb since I have a 2.4l IM?
