Cool I'm turboed now

well traded in the old M62 and all the other stuff that was with it for.....
a precision 5557s turbo, rd fab intake manifold, hahn intercooler, and everything else needed. Over two weekends I've gotten everything installed. I've had some set backs busted lsj map sensor and some other minor issues. Well car is finally put back together but I think there is an issue. My manual boost controller is set at its lowest lvl and the car is boosting at 15psi.

I have a forge boost controller, along with a tial wastegate. The way its connected is
turbo->boost controller->the side port on the wastegate and the top port venting to atmospehere. Is this the correct way to have it setup

I'am going to take a shot in the dark and say that the tial has the large blue spring in it which is 14.7psi. Spring in the wastegate dictates the lowest posible boost setting that you will see. Buy a small red spring, I believe thats 5psi thats what i have in for the time being till i get 80's so i can get the boost back up on the corn.

The bottom port is suposed to be straight pressure then u have another line with pressure that goes to the controller them into the top where u have vented to atmosphere

i got a fitting welded on my hotside cp that goes to my boost controller, then comes out the boost controller to the bottom port, then the top port is open, and bov is coming off the im....lol.

Yes bc u add pressure into the upper diaphram to make the spring pressure higher

I believe cobalt guy is right about the 14.7 psi spring, that's exactly what I'm running.

clear this up your operating on the wastegate spring why your boosting 15. Also does it sound like complete turbo surge. Which bov are you using? I have a ZZP one and i had to keep cutting the spring to get it to open up and not the turbo to surge

+ on the wastegate spring. Also another local member had a surging problem and I think it turned out to be the vacuum lines were too long. I am pretty sure he changed the wastegate/bov spring and it still surged so he moved onto the vacuum lines

I'll try trimming the vac line, I think it has alot of slack

unless it has a pinch... cuz it worked fine on the car it was on before(07 cobalt LSJ)

yea that's cool im not saying one ways right or wrong just asking why/how.
so you're saying you have the bottom hooked up straight off a pressure reading, then the top is put in with your bc?

Sounds like the bov spring is not set up properly set it to your vacuum at idle. Surge will go away!

Attempt to find a new vaccuum if not cut your spring im guessing this will be your problem. We tried a vacuum source on mine like 4 times all different ones ended up being the spring. But its up to you if you want to cut it.

As for the wastegate vacuum lines i was told the top port is for a EBC

I just read and confirmed the top port of the wastegate is for a EBC

yea thats what i thought, i searched around and everyone said that too, if your using mbc take the reading off the compressor housing or put a fitting on the ic pipe

pressure source -> bc in -> bc out -> side wg port

top wg port open (i put a piece of tubing on it and pointed it at the ground)

think it would make a difference if it was T off the intake manifold with the boost gauge. Or would it be better to be seperate.

mine is actually T'd off my intake manifold off a vacuum source just pull a line off while the engine is running and see if its creating vacuum if it is T into it. If it still wont open after that ur gonna have to cut your spring probably. I was running around 18lbs on a 5557 and it still wouldnt open i had to cut it. If you have the zzp bov itll look like a tial but with no tial markings

its interesting cuz on tials website they have the bov getting vac line after the throttle plate which I'm assuming is the throttle body. As for the wastegate and the boost controller are setup for before the throttle plate.
