lol!
i feel for all you guys waiting for the results...on oone of the mustang forums the first guy to install heads has dynoed, but can't post the dynoes, track times, or anything until the company that built them approves...but of course he gave us a little vid from inside the car just to tease us...its been like 3 weeks waiting and he already has the dyno IN HAND. GAH!

The new cams should improve air flow, and as long as the flow isn't more than the MAF limits, the stock computer (stock "tune") should be able to compensate. Where you get into issues is if the injectors are too small, and the computer is running them at 100 percent duty cycle to try to get enough fuel into the cylinders to go with the added air flow (remember, the cams can only increase or decrease air flow into the cylinders). This is the scenario when tuning Gen I and Gen II Neons. Different engine designs tend to have different issues.
One aspect of the 2.4, however, is the variable valve timing. As long as the cams allow the valves to physically clear the top of the pistons at both timing positions, the only thing a tune can do is move the RPM where the cams are advanced/retarded.
None of this is to say that a tune wouldn't be benificial, only that the only real issue not having one can cause is a lean or rich condition. And the worst case scenario of that is a hole in a piston (if lean) or so much fuel it actually washes down the cylinder wall and pollutes the oil and causes wear. But neither issue is instantaneous, and drivability usually make it clear if either is happening.
